Reports: RF logo has reverted back to The GOAT

i have slightly different view on RF logo situation.
Mirka might initially created the logo but still Nike refined/redesign then finalized the logo then registered trademark belong to Nike. Fed and his agent/management might not pay attention at all and did not claim or put new agreement on the RF logo. That’s their fault. That’s similar mistake like his first contract with Nike in my opinion.
No matter what Nike was the one who developed and marketing the logo.
If fed wants it, someone has to pay for it.
In my opinion, Nike should keep the logo even if they will not use but later the logo can be good a tool to renegotiate with Federer after uniqlo’s 10 years contract. Fed will be close to 50 years old but he might be still popular for tennis community and who knows he will turn to coaching career. Nike can launch retro Federer line or Federer brand might be even possible during that time. Fed himself, It will not be bad for a few millions from Nike for the project even though it won’t be like Jordan brand. Some people might not agree but I think it’s possible.

Well...while I can't agree or disagree with the premise you present on the origins and collaboration around the production of the RF logo.... but it seems you agree with my point that the RF logo is basically useless to Nike without Fed actively tied to it. Nike obviously has some sort of financial arrangement with Fed at the moment. Otherwise, he would still be wearing Vapors without the RF similar to when he first went over to Uniqlo.

as much as I want this to happen. Federer will never be able to achieve something as big as jordanbrand. Tennis just doesn't have the same amount of big personalities that Basketball has, and it doesn't have the same culture. Jordan actually wore the shoes during his games and theres a story for each of the new jordans and colorways etc etc. I love federer but he won't be able to make something like Jordanbrand.

You nailed it when you said that tennis doesn't have the same culture.

RF logo is worthless for Nike because it’s so unethical that they keep producing products without Federer.
It’ll totally legal but they will destroy their brand image so it’s just terrible decision if Nike makes RF productions without Federer.

I customize items and experienced that less than 10% of people wants RF logo on uniqlo items.
Most of people want the way Federer is wearing ^_^.
I’ve seen fed wears his vapors with RF logos so I thought Nike and Federer relationship might slightly better nowadays but does not look like both of them reached shoe agreement which is strange to me.

Literally all of Kaws x Uniqlo sold out fast. Nothing to do with Federer at all

That particular design is sold out within days others good but not as fast as that design. I worked with Uniqlo as a buyer and had a chat with friend who's still working there regarding that Federer effect. They are also posting the picture in their social media so they are marketing him.

A lot of people buying Zara T-shirt "Be back in 5 minutes" post Sharapova doping suspension just because she wears one.

I'm pretty sure Federer fans is more than the sneakerhead you mention and as far as I know it comes with 16 designs yet this one is sold the most.
He's not bigger than Jordan of course, but you dismissed his influence. Federer photo with Kuokka made front page of a newspaper/tabloid here in Australia.

Actually the black and white designs and sweatshirts were fast to leave. Sneakerheads main platform of communication is via fb groups and several of which people were looking for and several uniqlo employees around Australia confirmed that the All white shirt, all black and sweatshirts were first to leave. I'm not talking about federer fans being more then sneakerheads at all. Not sure where you got info about the one federer wore was the most sold out but it;s just not true.

Federer may be a better athlete and have greater achievements but he doesn't influence fashion and sneaker culture the same way as Jordan. You see a lot of ball shoes worn as a lifestyle shoe but not many can be same as Tennis Shoes. Also how is Rogers photo with a quokka relevant lol

Each to their own though, I'm a huge Federer fan. But to say that a hyped collab with an amazing price tag is something sold out because of Roger is just silly

Oh boy... Someone needs to start doing some actual research.

I'm not a Federer fan and I think something is sold because of Federer is not silly. Especially here in AU he is huge! Plus he's Man of The Year GQ version two years ago I think. Each to their own bud.

Anyway, back to the discussion that I stated and seems to digress with "Can Federer sold this and that", main goal for UNIQLO is to spread his brand using well known figure not creating a successful line of sport apparel.

Why don't you show us some numbers?

Just look at all those fb groups, stockx and see how many views fed got on complex compared to other people. You may also search uniqloxkaws on instagram and then do the same thing with uniqlo federer.

The number of fans who are willing to buy Roger's SHOES AND APPAREL is basically nothing compared to the streetwear culture enthusiasts. Not every fedfan (a very small percantage I'd say) is interested in actually buying his stuff, while the main point of streetwear is getting those items for yourself. And even if all the fans would be interested, it's basically tennis vs basketball, skateboarding, rap, and many other things. (Almost) Every time new jordan 1s or yeezys drop you actually have to take part in a lottery to get those and if they are sitting on the website for more than few mins they're being laughed at. Not a single fed or any other tennis item can hope for such demand. I resell both tennis (feds uniqlo included) and streetwear items and I can guarantee you that sneakerheads dominate the numbers.

What is the usual number for the limited sneakers runs (on average, not necessarily the lowest or the highest number)?

What is the usual number for the normal RF runs?

Nike never shares the numbers, but for adidas let's say 350 v2s would usually be something around 20-40k with some recent drops being 140k for zebras in US only (not very limited now) I think. And around 3/4 of them get sold out in seconds. Don't know about usual federer runs, but his limited ones (AJ3s vapors 9 for example) didn't do as well because as I said before the market isn't as big. Don't have the actual numbers to back it up at the moment sadly, but look at some threads about apparel here and there's not that many people going crazy about new shirts and this forum is supposedly where the crazy should be.

Also worth noting - from several Uniqlo Employees that there were several monochromatic shirts that were limited stock such as the white/grey /black/white and there were limited to 5 per size in each store for m - XL

Also there is not "usual number" you have to treat each sneaker drop different. There are also several factors such as where the sneaker will be released (If it's in store many more people will be camping for the shoe to obtain for retail) , if the colourway is country/continent specific (sometimes certain cw's are only released in certain areas" and what the collaboration is.

Not sure what you mean by RF runs? Are you talking about his Jordan/am95 collab?

20-40K for a "limited" run?

Do you even know what "limited" means?

20k is pretty average for yeezys especially since the release of the first batch of v2s. Recent drops after the zebras then beluga 2.0s, blue tints stock numbers have been around 20-40k number. Obviously they're still limited since they're still going for resale.

there is no fixed number on a limited sneaker.

Federer was seen wearing common projects, uptempos etc. He also bought some acronyms, lebrons. How come those shoes didn't rise when federer bought them? Like what your saying is contradicting

But look I don't want to be seen as a massive "know it all sneakerhead" so that's totally cool if you're not really interested in sneakers or sneakerculture. But just letting you know that the reason that these UNIQLO collabs are selling out are because it's KAWS. Federer wore a bunch of nintendo x Uniqlo and the shirts are bricking and even went on sale.

Kaws is a really popular brand and the shirts are being sold extremely cheap compared to some other stuff that kaws sells for, so of course everyone wants to cop

M8 I'm giving you some recent numbers as there is no such thing as the one general number. I could go with eminems 4's or back to the future mags, but what's the point of that? Even when there's 40k they're all sold out and they're not sitting on the website with discounts like tennis gear. Why is it so hard for you to believe how small tennis market is and that there's no so many people interested in it?

but they won't carry them in stores, and online will sell out in half a second. "SORRY SOLD OUT MORE PRODUCT COMING SOON." Why couldn't he have signed with a classic line like Lacoste that knows how to market?
Correct and peRFectly put. What a waste of a sponsorship. No stores carry anything he wears. Shame.

It’s very frustrating when staff at uniqlo stores just look at u dumbfounded when u ask if they have any of his gear. Not only do they not have it but they don’t even know who he is

Judging by the title, Rod Laver bought the RF logo.

My question is: why? You could easily get your own and it would sell like crazy.

:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

Jokes and unpopular opinions aside, this is a great move. Now the RF brand belongs, once more, to RF himself.

I still don't get why some people who waited too much then keep complaining that Uniqlo does not restock items????
if items are sold out, most of companies does not restock or remake. Actually Nike might be worst because Nike often has extra items but they don't restock sold out items for certain products then send those to their factory stores or discount stores.

I think there is a solution for availablity of federer items.
uniqlo should raise the price to $70. it will stay in stores or online for a while and it will not sell out quicker hahaha.
the price was also a big factor why so many people jumped in and sold out within 3 days at online stores and within a week at uniqlo stores.

here is advice for someone who did not get his items.
If federer items are available in the future, buy those items instantly instead of waiting for days or weeks especially size M and L.
also check store pickup or store availability for your local uniqlo stores and go get them as quickly you can.

Nike owns the RF logo, for now and Fed is still sponsored by Nike for shoes so it makes sense they can still use it. For Uniqlo they don't have the production that Nike does but I do think they are potentially missing on huge potential with an RF line.

They could simply create a new logo and put an entire line behind it to maximize visibility and profits while Fed is still on tour, even afterwards as we have seen with Jordan products. This has the potential for a lot more and I personally would be very happy, my bank account wouldn't be.

Uniqlo quality is very good, their prices are lower due to less market penetration driving higher pricing. I have some of their sport fleeces and they are great and hold up amazingly well for the price point. I would like to see more design thought put behind Fed and Nishikori but remember they do a TON of collaborations with Asian Trends (their core market).

Only time will tell but I selfishly hope they put a bit more behind their tennis lines for all of us to purchase as well as seeing availability across the larger distro's like Tennis Warehouse.

You know that Fed and Nike have zero deals together right? Nike does not have any endorsement deal with RF. The Nike deal ended when Uniqlo came on. There has been no sneaker deal, this has been well known. RF is an investor in ON running sneakers.

I thought Fed and Nike had a shoe deal as he continued to wear them since Uniqlo does not have a tennis shoe he could wear and neither does ON

Nope no shoe deal. He continued and continues to wear Nike because 1- he has worn those shoes forever 2- they are highly custom and switching your custom tennis shoe at this stage of his career is well...not a good idea. No sneaker deal. That is why he was able to become an investor in ON. If you go to YouTube and look for RF on CNBC he discusses how the ON deal came about and states because his Nike deal ended and went with Uniqlo that he had an opening in the sneaker part of his endorsement portfolio - instead became an investor in ON.

so how is he getting his latest custom nike shoes then? he must at least have some sort of agreement with nike?
plus the ones he wore at the AO 2020 have the RF logo and match his uniqlo outfit lol

Just because Nike provides the sneaker does not mean there is a "formal sneaker deal". Think about it, to have RF wearing Nike Vapors is free advertisement for Nike. The cost is to provide him with sneakers. While the logo was with Nike they would keep it on the sneakers, now the logo is his so, yes it will be interesting to see how it is used. Whether you want to be believe it or not, there is no deal with Nike. Now, I do wish there was but that ship has sailed and the ON deal only makes the relations between RF and Nike worse.
