I wasnt that impressed with Thiem today in all honesty. I suspect he will fall to Goffin, and even if he gets by him he will be roadkill for Djokovic in the semis. As a Djokovic fan though I hope Thiem can take out Goffin though as he would be the tougher opponent for Djokovic.

Honestly, did you watch the match? He was plenty impressive. Granoller couldn't keep up with Thiem's groundstrokes at all and was resorting to net rushing every chance he got. Even djoker doesn't make him do that.

I saw the match. Granoller is a clown, and I am surprised Thiem even had problems with him at all. As for your last sentence I am sure Djokovic could easily do anything he wanted to someone like Granoller.

Why do you think Thiem will be a tougher matchup for Djokovic? The last 2 times Goffin met Djokovic, he put a bucketload of pressure but he crumbled mentally.

Nope, Thiem is a tougher match-up for Djokovic, especially on clay. Thiem has a big kick serve and forehand, but Goffin has a pretty weak serve and no real weapons to hit through Djokovic.

That part is already enough to suggest he is a tougher opponent than Thiem would be. Thiem cant even do that much.

The problem with Thiem vs the best players in the world is that he has like a Federer BP conversion ratio. I mean he was like 1/10 vs Djokovic and like 2/11 vs Nadal in recent times?
If he can't improve that, he has no hope of beating the very best players in the world.
However I have seen Thiem improving dramatically but Goffin is a crafty intelligent tennis player. I think Goffin's craftiness will prevail IMO but I could be wrong.
Thiem has been improving a lot recently. Djoker has not. IMO, technically Thiem has even more room to exert aggression than Djoker. Meaning, if Djoker plays as aggressive as Thiem can he'll make more errors. Can't wait for the clashI wouldn't bet on it mate! Of course he has a shot but he's up against it

Yeah it is wierd to talk about Goffin not taking all chances vs Djokovic as a way of saying Thiem is the tougher opponent. Did anyone actually watch Thiem's last match s Djokovic (who wasnt even playing well at all that day for his standards to boot).
I agree with you on the Goffin vs Thiem encounter. I see it as a war, atleast a 4 setter but Goffin's craftiness, speed, and consistency prevailing over Thiem's superior power most likely on this slower court.

Thiem didn't have any problem with him. It was just a batting practice. Against Granoller, Djoker will beat him every time, I agree. But, won't dominate to the point Granoller cannot maintain rallies on nearly every point.

I have no idea what you base that last part on, and even if true to only a minor extent it would simply be because of Djokovic's playing style and how he chooses to play. He easily could if he wanted to against someone like that, but there is no point.
Meanwhile the first 2 sets of the match of Theim vs Granoller were quite tough, the only time the match started getting a bit easy was towards the end, so to some extent it was a tough match and against a lucky loser. Anyway I wont argue further since Thiem is quickly entering the "ridiculous overhyped" sectre of players on this forum (he is joining a pretty big list).
