Roddick and Hewitt were both #1 in the world at some point.
Roddick - 1 Slam 3 finals, 2 at Wimbledon
Hewitt - 2 Slams 1 at Wimbledon
Roddick won last meeting - Queen's Club Quarterfinal

I think the Roddick will have the edge in this one. He's in better shape and has had better results of late.

This match hasn't been set just yet, my friend. I do hope it happens, but we had best not jinx it. Roddick and Hewitt must get through pretty stiff opposition in Berdych and Stepanek respectively before they're up against one another.

The way Hewitt has been playing and if he can keep it up? Hes my pick if it happens. And I hope he does win. Hell I hope he wins it all. He deserves this one for how hard he has worked to make it back. He may not be at his peak, but this is the first time he has looked this good in years

Yup, Roddick beat him at Queens and has played okish so far.

I think he will need to improve his returning and break point conversion rate but I expect him to do so in the second week.

Roddick in 4 (again) is what i'll go with.

I think Roddick will win because hes had his number the last few times they played and I would like to see him win because hes an American. So im going with Roddick in either 3 or 4 sets.

Lets not count out HEwitt yet. IF Hewitt can neutralize the Roddick serve his chances are good. Roddick isnt an automatic

very dumb thread, neither have a "push over" next round, not there is such thing in 2nd week of a slam, but Berdych and Stepanek are very tough especially on grass

Personally, I don't see it happening. "Eye candy" Stepanek will dismiss poor Hewitt next round, while Roddick will continue to roll.

I'm going with Hewitt in 4 or 5 sets in this match up. Hewitt's been playing great and Roddick's looked spotty at times.

Then again, I kinda want Roddick to win because I'd rather see him play Murray than Roddick.

Berdych is playing well enough to beat Roddick. He completely overpowered Davydenko today.

Ya but i dont think Davy has ever made the 2nd week at Wimby .... maybe once at the most

Berdych will be hard pressed to break Roddick, especially considering his poor movement.... it could happen but i see Roddick winning at least 1 tiebreaker

On the ATP fantasy thing, I actually picked Roddick to get to the finals from the beginning. He just seemed to be playing better, and was concerned about the foot, but he said he was ready. And even though he'll be playing Hewitt instead of Del Potro, I think he'll still get by him.

Prime Hewitt schooled Roddick....I remember their SF match at Houston in the 2004 MC, where Hewitt won the last 20 points completely blowing away Roddick. I dont think Hewitt is playing aswell as 2004, but he is certainly close to he's best in a long time. Over 5 sets, you would expect Hewitt to find a way into Roddicks service games and steamroll him in the rallys.

Prime Hewitt schooled Roddick!?! Only in one match, and that is the match you point out. The only time period both were close to their best was 2004-2005 and the head to head was pretty close, 3-2 for Hewitt. Peak Hewitt even had an extremely tough match with pre-prime Roddick at the 2001 U.S Open, and was having a tough match at the 2001 French before Roddick injured himself. More importantly, the only meeting they had on grass was in 2004 at Queens, and Roddick won in straight sets. They met a couple weeks ago on grass and Roddick again won in 2 close sets.

Anyone whot thinks Hewitt doesn't stand a chance is stupid. In the past Hewitt owned Roddick when he was healthy. If he continues playing the way he has been playing, I'll take Rusty.

I think it is a close call if they meet. Hewitt to me looks a bit sharper at this Wimbledon so I might even go with him if they play. I am not sure they will though. I could defintiely see Berdych coming through that section. This might be his time to make a breakthrough at last.

Berdych just sucks in big matches,he always fails to deliver whenever he plays a big name in slams(and whatever people say about Roddick he is a big name in tennis being a slam winner and top 10 player so long).I would like to see him come through as I really like his powerful smooth game but I don't think he will regardless that he's in great form at the moment.Roddick will beat him with his consistency and mental strength IMO.

Maybe this time it will be different. It would be great for tennis if he reached the semis, finals, or even won Wimbledon this year, and I am not even a fan of the guy.

Maybe he'll deliver this time,I always liked his game so I would be glad if he reached the final or even won Wimbledon-now that would be great and most importantly unexpected which tennis needs with all these years of Fed and Nadal complete domination in slams.

However a Fed-Murray final would be good for tennis as well, first Brit to win since Fred Perry or Fed becoming the man with most slam wins in history of the sport.

How can people discuss the match which is not set yet and might never happen.

Also this is wrong section for the match thread.

Thread failed.

Its a tuff one.

I would have to go with Hewitt, simply because this week he is playing a hell of a lot better than at Queens.

This match hasn't been set up yet.

My take:

berdych without mental issues > roddick everytime
roddick > berdych because mentality.
prime hewitt > prime roddick.

And yes I was alive in 03/04 when roddick was toast after unable to get
all those free points from aces/easy forehand set-ups...watch05ausopen proof.

Now roddick> now hewitt as hewitts hip is screwed.

I can't believe people make comments that he is good again.

I watched the delpotro match and hewitt is WAAY slower than 02/03/04

His serving everything just doesn't have the edge anymore.

He beat del potro with very smart grasscourt tactics(hewitt is smart)
