I'm looking into the KSwiss Defiers and Asics Gel Sensations. This is what I'm looking for in order of importance:

Comfort - hoping my heel pain will subside with a nice cushioned heel
Fit - I have pretty flat, normal width feet
Durability - I tend to wear out the insteps of shoes pretty quickly
Style

If you've worn either of these shoes, could you rate the categories from 1-5.

5 = Outstanding
4 = Better than average
3 = Average
2 = Below Average
1 = Poor

I wear the K-Swiss Defiers.
I give them an "outstanding" rating in all of your categories.
They have good cushioning, stability, and durability.

The only bad thing I can say is that because they are all leather, they are a little hotter than other shoes, but that doesn't really bother me.

I thought that the Adidas Barricade II's had a similar fit and feel to the Defier's too, but I like the way the Defier's look better. That might be another shoe for you to look at. Personally, I prefer the K-Swiss Defiers. I tried on the Asics a couple of times, but they weren't as comfortable to me, and I don't care for the way they look. I can't comment on their durability, because I never bought them.

The asics are pretty dull in comparison to the nike and adidas lines, but if you like simple and clean design, I'd pick the asics. Comfortable, durable, and stable...i'd give em 4, 4, 4, and 3's for the respective categories

Well, I bought the Asics Gel Sensations and wasn't at all impressed. They gave me blisters and were not at all durable. In about 3 months of playing (2-3 times a week), they already have 3 holes in them.

I just bought the KSwiss Defier and these feel great. I still need to try them out on the court, but I'm almost positive these will be a much better shoe.

KSwiss Defier the sure winner

I've played with the KSwiss Defier a few times now and the shoe feels great. I had some heel pain (plantar fasciitis?) playing with the Asics but haven't felt it once with the Defier's. They seem pretty durable so far and are the most comfortable tennis shoe I've owned. The only downside is that they're a bit heavy and hot, but overall a great shoe.
