Silicone in Racket Handle

I have never customized a racket handle with silicone before and would like to put silicone in the handles of my YT Prestiges. I am looking for pointers from anyone who has done this beflore. Can anyone recommend what kind of silicone is best to use to inject the handles? Does standard silicone caulk work or is there a better option? Also, what is the best way to inject the handle to ensure the silicone is properly distributed?

GE Silicone II Clear (Home depot). Inject in only one chamber and push silicone with your finger when needed (this will compress it and it will be evenly distributed).

Why is that?? Why not both chambers, that's what I do, seems like it would be better balanced no?

Seems like every month there's a thread about injecting silicone in the handle and every month I type my suggestion about a better initial alternative :)

I would strongly suggest to first install poster putty, sold under the name of FunTack, BlueTak, ElmerTak... etc. This material works great because...

1. It's reversible. The stuff never hardens and you can add/remove some or all it until you find the right weight to add to the handle. Silicone is a @*&^#^ to remove.

2. It's immediate. Unlike silicone, you can immediately play with the frame after installation.

3. It's measured by weight. Most packages contain 2 ozs. of material and divided equally. So even without a scale you can know the weight of the stuff you're adding.

4. It also absorbs vibration. Perhaps a little less than silicone, but you do pick up some of the absorption qualities found in silicone.

You may eventually want to go the silicone route, but I think it's wise to first try this material to find the right weighting before you go such a permanent route.

I silicone inject all my frames (clear silicone from Home Depot)... fantastic results. BTW, inject both 'tubes' in the handle.

You can drill it out if you don't like it at a later period... but once you use the silicone, you won't go back. Great feel.

Here's my thread on customizing my Prestige. A scale is a must!

great thread, i came across it while back. i wish i had a scale when i injected silicone in the handle of my racquets a couple years ago.

when i managed to get my hands on a scale about a year ago, i opted to use lead tape instead(around the palette of some k88s i was matching) since i was short on silicone and had a roll of lead tape.

i kind of wish i used silicone instead of lead. i wonder how plush those k88s would have felt. damn, on that note, i wonder how even more plush your prestige feels with that set up.

Can anyone describe the fantastic "feel"?
