Tough to watch from a Ronnie fan perspective, but it was sublime snooker from Robertson today.

Ronnie has come up against players reaching their absolute peak in recent finals.

Good thing is Ronnie has a nice run until the Semi Finals for the Worlds

1st Round - Qualifier
2nd Round - McGill
QF - Ding or Maguire

Selby or Higgins could be Ronnie's SF opponent but boy that quarter is the quarter of death:

Higgins could face Williams in R2, Selby in QF
Selby vs Allen in 2nd round is no slouch of a match

Robertson and Trump are in the bottom half

Higgins is out for me. Same with Selby.

I don't see Higgins beating Williams > Selby > Ronnie in succession. No way despite what happened in the Players Championship. He won't replicate that form over multiple sessions.

Selby isn't beating Allen > Higgins/Williams > Ronnie imo it's more doable than Higgins's line but beating 2 class of 92 players in succession is next to impossible. Allen is gonna make Selby work too. He has a good match-up vs him.

So Ronnie does have a nice route to the final if Ding doesn't catch fire.

Biggest issue will be Robertson/Trump in the final.

I mean, unless something catastrophic happens, Ronnie should really reach the SF then anything goes. By that time he'll be in form while Higgins/Williams/Selby/Allen will be busy killing each other lol

but SFs is a safe bet.

I agree. Seems a sf is likely at the least.
Upsets happen all the time at the worlds, so I won't be surprised if neither Robertson or trump make the final on the other side of the draw.
If they do, I don't know if Ronnie still has the game to beat these guys anymore.
If Trump plays as well as he can, I don't see Ronnie getting past him.

Ronnie has been burned more times vs Selby than the other way around with big leads, I don't remember Ronnie ever being this salty though, especially after losing 2014 WC from a better position than Selby in 2020 WC

This was the one match Ronnie came from behind vs him in a big match I think

Selby's had more. 2008 Welsh Open, 2010 Masters, 2010 WC, 2014 WC

Eurosport's production, sir. It's called one day at the crucible. It's all about the mad semi-final day from last year. McGill and Wilson are included. I haven't seen it on YouTube yet but I'm sure it will go up there.
