String suggestions for BLX 6.1 90

Hey everyone,

I just bought a Wilson Pro Staff BLX 6.1 90 and I absolutely love how it feels and performs. It currently has Technifibre Black Code 17 on it and they play well, however they're starting to show signs of wear.

I'm curious what recommendations you guys would have for strings? Like I said I just got the Wilson, I've played with a Babolat Pure Drive Cortex up until now and I've usually used TopSpin CyberFlash 16, though right now I have Babolat Pro Hurricane 17 on my Pure Drive. I usually string at 55-58 lbs.

My play style is usually more baseline focused, but I do like to attack the net if the opportunity presents itself. I don't play much doubles, but when I do I play the net. This year I've been really focused on developing the proper technique with top spin and positioning. I've been playing about 4-5 years, but on an enjoyment/hobby level - never competitively.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It would be helpful to know a little more about your game. Are you a power player? Do you stick to the baseline? Do you use heavy top spin?
Personally, unless someone truly is wedded to all poly, I think a player playing with the Fed stick should at least try Fed's set up of gut in the mains and poly in the crosses. I think that set up plays great.

I do hit hard and I've been really working/focusing on increasing my top spin. I feel most comfortable from the baseline.

I've been thinking that myself, I just wanted to make sure that I'm not overspending for something I'm not going to see a difference in.

How many hours do you have on the Black Code?
I may be swimming against the current, but I think you should string with a set of Syngut @ mid-tension and use that as your starting reference for future strings.

Not 100% sure on the hours of wear, however the strings are showing signs of distress at this point. Syngut looks like a cheap option, I'll have to research how it performs.
