String tension, control vs power, how spin fits in and what it really means?

As far as I now understand, when people say lower tension is more powerful, it's mostly just a higher launch angle. So this means that a higher tension gives a lower launch angle, causing the perception that a ball is landing short due to lack of 'power'. But string tension doesn't have as substantial effect on ball velocity as I initially was told it did. I'm assuming adjusting the racquet face at impact could counteract this, but I haven't had much success trying that.

There's a great video on YouTube that explains this, if anyone wants to view it I'll find it on my YT history and post it.

Also, I have noticed strokes I put on the ball with a racquet with relatively low tension have less spin on the ball than a racquet with higher tension, which I deduce has to come with trying to reign in said rocket launcher to get the ball to land in.

So for now I'm dialing up the tension on the racquet. It seems easier to aim higher when returning a deep ball than to lower the trajectory to get it to land in on a full swing near the baseline.

If y'all have something to add to or disagree with this, please post, I'm trying to get a better understanding of the physics of this game

Guys,

How much do the main strings coming apart become an issue for you guys?

Is it really an issue for hitting the ball accurately? Or is it just my imagination? I hate it. I always have to fix them up straight though I doubt the ball can slip through.

@MoxMonkey Just play with synthetic gut full bed at 60 pounds until you develop your strokes enough to get the spin, control, power that you want, before experimenting with poly/multi/hybrids at lower/higher tension. I suggest Gosen OG Sheep Micro 16 or Prince Syngut Duraflex 16.

It really won't help your tennis game at all to try to understand the physics.

Maybe over thinking but premise is correct if you’re hitting balls long and worried about taking a full swing increase of tension might help, assuming your swing is fairly sound

When I tried low tension poly my swingpath naturally became more vertical than through the ball to keep the ball in which also resulted in me shanking the ball more than usual. I don’t use a full western grip either but found myself closing the racquet face a lot more.

String the crosses 2-3 LBs lower.
