As far as I now understand, when people say lower tension is more powerful, it's mostly just a higher launch angle. So this means that a higher tension gives a lower launch angle, causing the perception that a ball is landing short due to lack of 'power'. But string tension doesn't have as substantial effect on ball velocity as I initially was told it did. I'm assuming adjusting the racquet face at impact could counteract this, but I haven't had much success trying that.
There's a great video on YouTube that explains this, if anyone wants to view it I'll find it on my YT history and post it.
Also, I have noticed strokes I put on the ball with a racquet with relatively low tension have less spin on the ball than a racquet with higher tension, which I deduce has to come with trying to reign in said rocket launcher to get the ball to land in.
So for now I'm dialing up the tension on the racquet. It seems easier to aim higher when returning a deep ball than to lower the trajectory to get it to land in on a full swing near the baseline.
If y'all have something to add to or disagree with this, please post, I'm trying to get a better understanding of the physics of this game
