Stringer Recommendations

Hey guys, I need some stringer advice. I'm a competitive 5.5 player currently using Luxilon Big Banger Flouro strings. I've been breaking them every 3-5 days depending on play and have decided to invest in a stringer. I'm looking to spend no more then $1200 and was just wondering what was the best machine for my buck. At this point I know almost nothing about what's good and what's not so any advice would be helpful. Thanks guys!

I second the Neos. I used one for seven years and it was a beast. Accurate, durable, fast, easy to use and despite it being only a 2 point mounting system I never had a problem with racquet distortion. If I had $1200.00 lying around that would be my first choice.

Go for the eagnas plus 8000 for 100 dollars more or the combo 3800 which is about $800. Either machine looks pretty nice and solid and I have heard great things of the combo 3800.

The NEOS is getting a lot of love, and I'm also going to recommend it (I've been using mine for 6.5 years), but I would also look at the Gamma 6004 ($1300).

For under $1200 you can get a lot of stringing machine if you stay away from the brand names.

I like the Comet or Maestro ($200 more) with a Wise, less money than a 6004 and you have a backup tensioner.

Electronic is the best way to go, plus the Comet has the newer style mounting system plus both machines have the 3 point clamps which are a lot easier to use on tight patterns.

I would definatley go with an electronic unit and for $699 you can't beat the Silent Partner Jive (http://www.sptennis.com/stringer.asp#Jive) or for $1199 the Silent Partner e.Stringer DG (http://www.sptennis.com/stringer.asp#DG) Both units have are electronic are 6pt mounting and have a digital display, with the DG providing more options. I have friends who own both of these machines and were in a similar situation as yours, and both really like their machines. The DG was rated very well by the USRSA.

Thanks, I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Maestro and the Prince NEOS. I like the 3 point clamps as I have an 18 by 20 string pattern and it gets a little tight with the 5 point clamps. I also like the 6 pt mounting system. Any suggestions either way? Seems a lot of people on this board prefer the NEOS.

Between the Maestro and NEOS, no question, get the NEOS. It's been the standard of crank stringing machines and is built like a tank. I have seen beat up, old NEOS machines (Ektelon) go for sale for $700 - $800 on the auction site.

By the way, I was in your situation a couple of years ago, and I wanted to get the Alpha Apex II, NEOS, or Gamma 6004. I chose the Gamma 6004. I know I'd have no regrets between those 3 machines.
