Stringing 2013 Blade 98 (18x20) one piece?

Hi all, I've been stringing my Blade 18x20 as a two piece job but i find that measuring 22ft for mains and 18ft for crosses everytime from a pack of string can be tiresome sometimes. How do I measure how much string I need for the "Short side" and the "Long side" for the one piece method when stringing?

if you are using a set just cut it in half. it should be enough. if you want to do 2 pc, i just use the racket to measure. pull a bit for the short side, and just measure using the racket to do teh short side. whatever is left over is for the long side and cross

I think what zap meant was if you want to do 1 piece*. like he said just put the string through the first main and measure 9 mains for the racquet and then 1 1/2 more to reach the tensioner. You may have a bit left over but you'll be fine it really only takes 37 feet. If you do it this way you'll have to string the racquet bottom up on the crosses since the mains end at the throat.

Feel free to look up some of the around the world patterns Irvin and others have posted on youtube.

You said you measure 22' and 18' respectively for the mains and crosses and I assume you measure them from a set of string that is 40' long. You did not say what pattern you wanted to use. Wilson says you only need 37' for a one piece for the Blade 98 18x20 but if you're using sets of string I would not cut it off. If you're using a universal ATW pattern (short side is used for 8 mains and top cross) 11'3" should be more than enough. The racket is 2'3" long so 5 racket lengths would be equal to 11'3". If you're using some other type of pattern you may have to adjust accordingly. For one piece stringing bottom up again 11'3" should work fine. You should only have to measure the overall length if you're cutting from a reel. Then 17 racket lengths would be 38'3" and 18 lengths would be 40'6".

Using this racquet as an example, sometimes I would do it like this. To measure the short side, I would measure 9 lengths of string from 1t to 1h. In other words, measure the longest main 9 times - that's your short side. Obviously, the main strings get progressively shorter. But you need extra string to go around the frame and to tie off. I find this method to yield very little waste. I do this often with reels to cut down on wasted string. But it also keeps me out of trouble with frames that require more string than others.
