Stringing Cyberflash

I've got some Cyberflash to try. I'm also going to try it as a full poly having used a hybrid (Alu Power / Gut or Alu Power /Supersense).

Previously I strung the mains (alu power) at 55lbs and the crosses at 59 or 60lbs.

What would Cyberflash users / experienced stringers recommend I do tension wise when I string fully in Cyberflash? I'm thinking do mains and crosses at 55lbs, but I'd be interested in any other suggestions.

There are a BUNCH of other threads asking this same question.

The 10% rule does not really apply to this stuff. Try it just a tad lower than you would string a synthetic gut. Since you string pretty tight, try a full job around 58 lbs.

Voltron makes a good point... What racket?

Aplogies, I didn't know it had been asked before.

It's in a Vantage 18 x 20 string pattern (95 head size).

I'm confused by the suggestion not to drop tension. I looked Cyberflash up on a table of data someone posted in these parts (http://www.racquetsportsindustry.com/issues/200609/200609stringselector.html) and the stiffness and tension loss numbers seem comparable with Alu Power (though slightly better).

Thanks for helping me out, I have a few sets to try but would prefer to get close first time out.

I initially strung my racquet about the same as I had with synthetic gut, due to a lot of people saying Cyberflash was "softer" than most other polys and you didn't need to drop tension, or not by as much. (This was at 60# Cyberflash mains, and 60# with syn gut crosses as a two-piece). Since then, I've lowered the tension twice, and am now at 56# mains, and like it a little better.
So I'd experiment and see what works best for you. Maybe try 5% less tension first, and go from there.
Have fun.

I think the problem with ALU and other some other Luxilons and a lot of other polys is not that it loses tension, but just loses resiliency, making it play dead, making it not play as when it's fresh.

I second Voltron.
Thank you.

I would try it at the same tension as your previous setup first, then adjust from there. It's definitely softer than ALU power, so you probably won't need to set the tension any lower than that. One question, what didn't you like about your previous setup?

Thank you.

I seem to have a bit of a consistency problem with the Alu Power / gut hybrid, one racket I restrung recently seems to have really dropped tension and I can't play with it (I plan to restring it tonight with the Cyberflash).

I like the Alu Power / Supersense combination, but I'm wondering if I would like the playing characteristics of a full poly (I know supersense is a poly, but you know what I mean) more. I really like how I can go at the ball and I'm lucky not to have experienced any arm issues thus far playing tennis.

Thanks for your input. I have belatedly read through some of the other posts on the subject too (thanks for pointing me at them) and I think I'll go for a two piece at 59/57lbs as a start point.

Thanks, that's helpful.

Racquet is key. I have a Yonex RDS 003. Yonex recommends stringing the crosses lower than the mains. I had been stringing them with Gosen SM 17 at 58 mains, 56 crosses. So when I strung them with CF 17 and used the same tension I got phenomenal results.

So try it at your regular tension. Be sure and pre-stretch the CF.

My experience now matches yours. I tried it at 59lbs (because of the other comments about not needing to drop tension) and it was definitely too tight for me.

I plan to restring with it at 55lbs (the same as I use for Lux mains) and see how it plays then.

Thanks again for your input.

To really test out the string you should first string it at the same tension as the ALU then change the tension from there.

True, but the slight complication is I'm making a change from hybrid to full poly with the Topsin. I figured it was a good choice since it's a little softer than the Alu Power.

In case you're still watching this post, I found that for summer heat I had to go back up to 60 lbs. After just a week or two of the Cyberflash mains at 56 lbs, they were too loose and I was losing a lot of control. One responder pointed out that poly is more affected by heat.

On my N-Blade i strung Cyber mains and Ashaway liberty x's both at 60lbs.
The racket still was flexy and racket impact was still soft, ball bite was incredible!! It just went dead after abt a month of playing 3X a week

EDIT: it is 90 plus humity here on average
