Stringing for the new tennis center

I'm stoked.

I just received word today from the director of the new tennis center in town (John Austin - 1980 Wimby mixed doubles champ, lol) that they want me to string racquets for them.

They want to offer a 24 hour turnaround racquet stringing service and after doing a demo racquet for them they're convinced I know what I'm doing. LOL

It also means that while I'm down there stringing racquets I'll get to string on their new Prince 5000 machine. Here's two pics I took of it the other night:

Here's a quick picture I took of the center court there. It's a new 25 court facility that's just having the finishing touches applied. Plans are to host a lot of USTA events there. This pic looks dark because I forgot to turn the flash on, but trust me the lights there are awesome...best of any tennis center I've ever played at.

What were your credentials?
I have to admit, I'm not a "pro" stringer. I've strung my own sticks for years and now probably string for about 20 various people that I play with or people that know people I play with. I've probably strung about 35-40 different kinds of racquets. I have a Silent Partner Aria at home and have strung on a Prince NEOS machine also.

I'm hoping that stringing for the tennis center will help me increase my expertise and just earn a little cash on the side.

awesome. sounds like a ton of fun. do you get to play there for free for being an employee or how does the place work?

Not sure if I get to play for free or not. I won't be an employee - I'll be a contractor. I'll just invoice them for every racquet I string.

Congrats!! You must have a gift for stringing! :D

Good luck...maybe one day you will be stringing for the #1 player.

That stringing machine is freakin gnarly! I like how it kinda glows, its like it's trying to draw me in to string racquets. I wish my NEOS glowed cool colors.

Nope, probably because the camera was just shooting at a standard exposure time, a longer exposure would have helped. Turning the flash on would have been the worst thing you could do, would have made whatever was within 10m bright, and the rest darker.

Congrats on the job!
