Such a thing as TOO HEAD LIGHT???

All right, I got a Prince Tour Diablo mid in 1/4 grip. I added a heat shrink (1/2 size sleeve) sleeve, leather grip, and overgrip. Has anyone played with a racquet that is this headlight? If so, what were your thoughts? Could this have a negative effect on your game? I have added weight to the racquet obviously by doing this, but with it being so HL will it make it less stable? Any comments are appreciated!

Lacked weight to my shots and did feel unstable when not hit perfectly. It may be different for you with the diablo.

You did not tell us how headlight it is?

I like up to 10pts headlight on a 12.3 - 12.5 oz racquet, but have used a 13 oz racquet at 14 pts headlight for a while with good results.

Exactly. It's not about balance alone, it's about the other "weights" too, i.e. racket weight and SW. Your playing style is also another factor.

I believe his racquet is already 8 points or so headlight stock.
A 1/2 size shrink tube will be +11 grams
Leather instead of Synthetic grip can add as little as 5grams or as much as 15grams
And another 5 or so grams for the overgrip

I dont know how to factor this on paper but as a guess I would think he is now somewhere in the 'hood of 11, 12 or more points headlight.

OP can you give us more info? the static weight, current balance and your playstyle, bodyweight etc..

If you feel its too headlight try a gram of lead at 12 o'clock to counter balance it

I don't have anything to measure with but TW states the stock weight is 12.2 oz strung and 10 pts. HL. I am 6' 0", 185 lbs., 4.0 level, and play an all court style. I have been playing with the K90, and it definitely does not have the plow thru but spin is excellent. I may try to put a little lead at 12.

Balance the racquet on a pencil or end of a table then measure the distance from the balance point to the end of the handle.

Each 1/8th of an inch that it balances short of 13 1/2 inches is 1 point.

For a 27" racquet like yours, the following applies;
If it balances 12 1/2 inches from the end off the buttcap the balance is 8 points HL. 12 inches from the buttcap = 12 points, 11 1/2 = 16points, etc...

If you need help post the measurement and we can give you the HL balance

I have the same question... my Ozone Tour is now 348g. 2g at the bumper guard, 12 at the handle... it is VERY headlight, the balance is near 29-30cm. Is it too headlight? I'm out of material to add weight at 12...

If you feel the racquet is unestable and lacks plowthrough, then it would be good to remove some weight from the handle.

NEVER use shrink wrap. It adds too much weight to the handle making the stick more headlight and dramatically changing the original specs.

I'm afraid you will have to order the stick in the correct grip size to solve the problem

Without having done the math I believe 31cm is around 10 pts headlight so you are well over that. I'm gonna guess 14 pts headlight dude.

If you like how it plays then why worry about it?

There are so many different variables that would change your game besides our opinions. Play tennis, ask questions later.
