Hi guys, i want to ask, how much is swingweight higher in strung racket. My guy always tell me unstrung SW and i dont know compare to fabric SW from websites.
Now i have gravity pro unstrung on 304 SW, strung SW is? its 18x20. I want know differnce between SW in 16x19 / 18x20 pattern too. Last racket was 16x19 but SW 301

Thanks

string gauge will make some difference to... 18x20 17g (1.20mm) is about 30SW in blade v7... maybe 30-33...

im using years 1.25 gauge. So its not possible find some tool to count strung sw?
~ 30SW increase for a string job is pretty close. unless you really need an exact measurement.
there are a couple of options... the cheapest one is the TW university method

other options including find someone with a RDC/PTC/stand along electronic SW machine.... or buy one from places like this..

I know these machines. The person who strings my racket is using this tool for customizing, but he never tells me SW after stringing the racket, only before. Thats why I am asking what is the SW after stringing, since i only know the SW unstrung.
The HEAD webside states that the strung SW should be 332. So when my racket is 304sw unstrung, strung etc. is 334-337?

I went from tourna 1.25 to Yonex poly Strike 1.25 and it added near 2g, thats 5-6 SW points on an extended length raquet...surpringly. I guess thats why Yonex calls it 16L gauge.
I could be wrong but I think for every gram of string its about 2 sw points.

then the question is - why didn't he/couldnt he tell you the SW after stringing? what is there for him to hide?
in any case, if your unstrung SW is 304, then it is quite safe to "assume" your strung SW is around 334SW.... which is rather close to the Head suggested SW (ie. average).

I want change string, im using polytour pro on gravity. I dont like it, on my last vcore95 yptp was better. I want buy lynx or cyclone. I dont know choose :D In this opportunity i want put SW little bit down. I feel racket is too hed heavy. ( I have customized gravity tour to pro specs so i can) So i can go 2-4 SW down. Nice

The variant in string will not change the overall SW too much, i would say +/- 1-2g at most on average.

Are you so in tuned with your racquet/stroke that you can tell a difference of 2-4 SW?
In any case it is more difficult to reduce the unstrung SW, unless it’s trim some of the grommet/bumper off. Or go with thinner gauge string, that it can be more tricky if you are looking at a bigger SW reduction/difference...

Yes, i have sensibile hand, i feel it, Yep i know but i have tapes under bumper. So for me its not hard. My stringer guy doing racket tuning too so im safe :D

but it doesn’t make sense if your stringer guy is doing racquet tuning for you, but refused to tell you the string SW figure?
When you said “tape” - are you taking about lead tape? Is that what your stringer guy did for you, when you told him you want to reduce the SW?

He moved to other country 2months ago, so its harder now, He will come back home before christmas now, so i have to wait. When i will meet him next time i can tell him about my strung SW now. But thanks for advice, etc. 30-33 is okay information for me

You feel the frame is too head heavy, so you want lighter strings, even though you have lead under the bumper?

Why not just take the lead off?

Wrong! The gauge, but most important type og string matters a lot. I have experienced as much as 15 swingweight points difference between strings, in the same racket. I have a swingweight machine at home.

He's looking for same gauge, not different gauge.

An 18g kevlar hybrid might weigh 11g (contributing about 20 kg-cm^2 to the sw), while a 16g poly might weigh 21g (contributing about 40 kg-cm^2 to sw).

In other words, the stringbed adds anywhere from 20 to 40 sw units compared to the unstrung swingweight, with 30-33 being typical for 17g full poly.

Yes, and natural gut is even heavier than most polys.. and a dampener adds about 2 swingweight points.

I just purchased a slightly under-spec gravity pro. Unstrung SW was 303. After getting 18g solinco hyper g in the racquet, strung swing weight came in at 329.

Consulted with a friend who uses thinner gauges in his gravity pro and he measured the move from a 1.25 to 1.15 takes about 4 grams out of the hoop. I will soon try a 1.10 gauge string to see if the ration continues, dropping 2 more points.

Ok guys, my stringer guy came back home for christmas, i gave my racket to him to change them. He changed my weight balance and swingweight. Now my rackets are changed from 316grams 315balance 304SW unstrung to 314,5grams 314balance and 298SW unstrung. Looks better, i cant try them now, since lockdown everywhere in my country . I was surprised from the strung SW. I asked him to measure the strung SW. It was 337 with cyclone 16, so with 1.30 gauge string. Little bit more than how we expexted, so +39 SW with string.

If you go to a thinner gauge, you will bring down the weight in the hoop and, thus, the SW. If you're not a string breaker, you can easily go to 1.20 or lower and lighten the racquet a bit.

Can I ask how/what did he do to bring the unstring SW from 304SW to 298SW?
It looks like the Cyclon 16 is heavier than other poly strings, as RT suggests a higher string factor, probably the higher reading you got for the strung SW.

My son has 4 Head Gravity Pro matched at SW 305 kg.cm2 unstrung.
The SW with Head dampener, Tourna surgrip and strung with Wilson Revolve gauge 1.25 is 337 kg.cm2.
If you are interested I can measure the strung SW (without the surgrip and the dampener).

I know, but I break a lot of strings, but if I compare m last YPTP 1,25 with the Cyclone 1,30 YPTP looks wider

I have a customized racket and I took off some tapes from under the bumper.

For me 337 Sw was without dampener and without overgrip. But i ithink overgrip doesnt increase SW. Dampener its 2-3 sw more

From what ?
Found an under spec gravity pro with an unstrung 303 SW. 1.20 gauge got it to 328/329. 1.10 brought it down to 324/325. It’s been an experiment. Not entirely sure if this Pro is any better than the regular Tour.

The Pro is not better or worse than the Tour ;). They are quite different racquets. The Tour is a little easier to play. With the Pro you really get what you put in the Ball. No free power but a large sweetspot. It suits very well powerful players with relatively flat stokes (Rublev for exemple :)). In the end it is really a matter of personal preferences.

I have played both, but added a leather grip the Tour, which is a tad more maneuverable. Swing weight difference, while only a few points, just lets the head come through a little quicker, giving a bit more spin. Using a red 17g cyclone. Almost matches the frame colour, oddly enough.

I just bought a second Tour, matched with my first. Love cyclone tour and recently had a great experience with VSquare. Trying Tour bite soft and diadem solstice power.

4 grams, i thought you meant swingweight.. 4 grams total is really not a lot.. do you have a swingweight machine? That is a more important spec..
When I got it from the distributor, strung with 1.15 the SW was 329. Got it restrung with 1.10 gauge and had the SW measured by my stringer (Mozi Tennis) it was 324/325.

so, 1.15 gauge added 26 points to the SW, while 1.10 added 22.
