I will be spending the winter in Miami Beach. Will appreciate any comments and tips regarding where to play (preferably but not exclusively clay courts) on the Beach and also nearby - descriptions of clubs, court fees etc. Thank you very much in advance.

tennis in miami beach

I live in Miami Beach (recently moved) and can give you some tips, from what I know about.
Main public -clay courts- Northshore and Flamingo Park.
Northshore is located on 72nd/73rd in Miami Beach. It's a public court. 15 or so clay and 2 hard courts. Very nice. I mainly play there.

Flamingo is around 12th or so in South Beach. It is presently closed because of hurricane damage. Not sure when it is going to re-open.

There are other scattered public hard courts, including the 4 at the Nautilus school on Michigan and around 43rd.

Good luck!

Public Clay Courts, wow. I had to drive for 2 hours and pay $20 to play on the clay courts and they are not even red clay. I don't understand why clay courts in the US are not as pravelent as they are in Euorpe

well, the public courts in Miami Beach aren't free, but they aren't too much. $4 for residents, $8 i think for non residents.
