Tennis shirts are boring: The coolest designs are on golf shirts now - PICS:

I've had it with boring tennis shirts, the same monotone colours season after season. Aquamarine, sorry, teal this quarter, Vermillion the next. With a lime accent. Or maybe Mint Green, I'm not sure. Whatever. Same old, same old.

I'm off to the golf equivalent of TW to grab me some shirts with spunk, flair and style. Oh, and lots of colours too. In wacky geometric designs and all. Thankfully, there's no risk of being mistaken for Fred Couples or Davis Love III. Not Rory either - Nike Golf is just as boring as Nike Tennis. No, PUMA is where it's at. Whilst not quite rock 'n roll golf, their golf apparel is nonetheless today's equivalent of Nike's Challenge Court/Agassi range for the vivacity of its colourful design. I'm sold.

Needs more collars, Dimitrov's Rome shirt was Nike's last good design in a while.

the thing is solid colored shirts are more "safe", as its a much more neutral design. Flashy shirts will attract a lot of attention, but unless the person who wears it wins a grand slam, its probably not goign to sell as well
here are some fabs tho

Nike Golf Polos are cheaper than Nike RF Polos. The former have better designs as well. I used to play in Izod Golf Polos. I like how I can use them for both casual wear and tennis wear.

^^^ Nike also does a fashion-oriented golf line also. A sort of hybrid line that is mainly for street. Slimmer fit and a bit more design-conscious, as much as Nike is willing to be.

The golf market is affluent enough, and the industry is big enough, to sustain a whole niche market of fashion-forward golf apparel in a way that tennis can't.

Macy's has Izod in their store. I always see their polos and shorts on the clearance rack. They are good stuff, but I don't understand why they do not make performance shorts!!!!

Hm, maybe because Izod only has a golf line so they don't make them...

I'm not sure right now but a few years back their golf polos were perfectly usable for tennis. While tennis and golf polos have that silky polyester fabric, the Izod golf polos had a thin pique-like polyester cloth. I remember wearing them to work and even dinners because it can pass off as a regular polo. The Izod near my home has closed down already though.

I really have no problems with "basic" tennis polos. Heck if Izod continuously sold that golf shirt here I would have bought 4-5 (it was only $15). I just hate the recent tennis polos by big sports brands since its neither "basic and classic" nor "unique" in design. It's in an awkward position the middle, like the Nike Lawn 2013 collection.

Since commencing this thread I've explored the rest of the PUMA Golf archive and there's no turning back to Fedal style crews and polos. Puma's guy Rickie Fowler is where it's at.

Some of the earlier PUMA polos are mind-blowing in their designs. The geometric patterns and colours really stand out and the slim-fit cuts look sharp.

Yes, the fabric between Izod and any popular tennis apparel are made completely different. That's a shame. You can get a $60 Izod Polo for >$17.99 at Macy's because they are always on clearance. I even saw a few at JCPenny's for $7!

I don't even go to the actual Nike store or anything like that. I get all of my stuff from the bay or discount TW.

I do hate bidding against other idiots. They bid too early. I even lost a green Nike polo because my bid lagged!

I do like the design of Golf polos but they're too heavy for me to wear.

Either you're wearing 100% cotton shirts or polos cut the size of Craig "The Walrus" Stadler - practically every golf shirt is more or less the same material as tennis shirts. Whether it be 100% synthetic or poly/cotton blends. The adidas FP Engineered range is the lightest I've ever worn, tennis and all.

Granted the traditional oversized, flappy sleeved shirts of the past would be heavier, as would the Under Armour cold climate shirts

Sometimes I wear some older polos when I'm feeling spunky. I usually get the most comments when I rock my michael kors polo lol. And the crazy what's this kid doing on the tennis court when I wear a Nike Jordan Polo.

The Fed USOpen polos have designs. They are ugly though (in a bad way -- and yes it can be ugly in a good way).

First one looks promising, second will make you look like an optical illusion, third looks like what Liberace would wear on bowling night.

I liked some of the Lacoste stuff recently, but that's about it. I wouldn't buy it if it's not on sale though. Unfortunately the same goes for Adidas now as well. Cost of tennis apparel shooting up. :(

It's bad enough trying to buy quality cycling apparel :( Basically spending close to $200 on a jersey + shorts. Now I've gotta pay $100 to get an Adidas tennis outfit? Blah!
