Tension for Tour Bite 16 in Wilson 6.1 95 16x18

Hey guys. I'm on my last pack of Luxilon 4G 16L since the other pack broke on my other 95. I have two packs of Solinco Tour Bite 16 and I thought of going back again to see if I truly like the string. I'm wondering about the tension I should string TB at in my 6.1 95 since I use Luxilon 4G at 54 lbs as my main setup.

I've had experience with Tour Bite before with my old Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT + at 59 lbs but that and the Wilson BLX 6.1 95 16x18 are very different frames. Should I keep my tension at 54 lbs or go back to my old setup with my 95's (56-58 lbs)?

I think you should compare the tension maintenance between 4G 16L and Tour Bite 16 as defined in TWU data base. The Tour Bite has significantly higher tension loss; more than your proposed uptick in tension.

I believe that the 4G is already pre-stretched which is why it shows such low tension loss numbers for a poly. Just based on what I see, it looks like you'll need to adjust tension by ~9-10# unless you have the stringer pre-stretch your Tour Bite.

2 cents.

Tour Bite feels like metal. I'd stay at 54

Agree. The best way to compare is to use it at the same tension. If you are trying to exactly replicate the feel and SBS of 4G, however, then it is going to be a difficult task as the strings simply will 'feel' different.

I find TB to be a very stiff string that plays great at lower tensions and still has control, so personally I would string it lower than 4G if it were me.

Thanks for the response guys. I'm not looking to replicate the feel of 4G. If I was, why would I post this thread :)? I'm looking for a different poly to use and Tour Bite is what I have right now.

Guys I've made my decision, I requested to string it at 55. Really excited to see how it looks even though I won't be using it for a month or two (I just got really bored of the bland looking 4G gold).

50 tops, for sure.
STB is stiff.
STB holds tension well at LOWER tensions.
My 98 racket uses STB16 at 47 lbs., about right for hard hitting feel.
You should go lower, unless you like a racket that feels like a board.
