Switching from leaded Head LM Instinct 327g/ 7pt HL to M Pro #1 98 UL. More maneuverable, easier to swing (long and hard) and better spin production. It has more power than expected (which I like) with excellent silky smooth feel (w/ rubber band dampener), reminds me of POG 4 striper OS.

As always, I replaced original syn grip with leather (Gamma), but realized no weight difference (5-7g gain in the butt was what I hoped for to bring it closer to SL but...) With tornagrip and strung with CyberFlash 17g poly, it came out to be 314g/ 4pt HL. I thought it may be too light for me, but it is very stable and I am not planning to lead it up yet.

Only thing that I am still dialing in is slices and smacking floaters for a winner in the mid court, where I feel a bit less plow-through....but I think I just need to step in to add weight to the ball. Will play more and see before experimenting with some lead, as I love its maneuverability, especially at the net.

Anyway, this is my first Fischer and glad I discovered it...and I bought 3 new sticks for $200 shipped....what a deal.

Just following up on my M Pro # 1 98 UL.... I dropped the tension to 53lb and added 2g at 3 and 9 o'clock, and jackpot, a perfect setup for my aggressive game.

I was initially concerned with the weight under 320g but no more. The stick now feels as stable as Radical OS, while much more maneuverable and more importantly, the stick allows me to swing all out more often with explosive power and control. I have total confident with this stick, even against hard hitters.

I am glad now that I picked UL over SL. I think lower tension and a touch more weight in the head would bring out the real magic.

2 M Pro 98 SL weapons are on the way to my HQ, so hope they swing well, you can count me in.

I've been trying out a pair of M Pro1 98 SL's. I've only used them in one hitting session and one league match so far.

How is your experience going?

HEY, very sorry pal, I had some adressing problems and still have not received my new weapons, they should arrive here late June, so you can give me some clues, can you compare them perhaps with babolat PD?'

recently moved away from my M Pro1s that I used for a long while to something that is a bit more powerful and user friendly (MG Radical Pro). But saw this M Comp 95 for sale on TW on my birthday..... just could not resist. should have it tomorrow. will string it up with my usual poly mains hybrid set up and see what happens. happy to still have a Fischer in my bag.

I couldn't resist, I am sick of fischer, I have purchased 3 others of it at discounted price, the black granite pro n.1 98 ul.

Fischer Racquet prices: what's going down?

I have been curious about trying Fischer products, specifically the Progressor NT. I have understood them to be high-quality sticks at a reasonable price. Recently, though, I noticed the prices are coming way down on TW across-the-board. What's going on? Something I need to be aware of as a potential buyer (going out of racquet biz, etc)?

I would likely purchase a couple, anyway...

Yep, I believe they will be discontinuing their tennis line of products. Great prices right now though, even on the used ones. I picked up 2 M Pro1 SL's for 100 bucks shipped on this very forum; in great condition too.

I'm currently trying out different string setups so if there is anyone out there that still uses Fischer is interested I can give my opinions.

I used the M comp for a while after the Mpro98 and loved it. It seemed to have a big head for a 95 and the touch was lovely. Fischer rackets have something about them and Im surprised they are not more popular on tour. They are so flexi and you needed to take a big cut at the ball to get it over the net. I was looking for something with the same flex but will a bit more ooomph so I changed to the new Rebel. I just unwillingly sold the 2 fischers to 2 now very happy peeople.

Any new word on if Fischer is still going out of business? I heard a rumor that Volkol might be buying the tennis part of Fischer. I also heard that Fischer will go on and not close down. Any of these things true?

Need help from the Fischer users out there!

I'm looking for a new racquet and ideally it would be this:

Headsize: 93 - 95 (98 acceptable, possibly even 100)
Weight: 11.5oz min, 12oz+ better
Stiffness: no more than 60 (I like flexy)
Beam: thin thin thin (I like 19 or 20)
String pattern: open (16x19 or 16x20)

Except for beam, there are a number of Fischers that seem to fit the bill. I am demoing the M Comp 95, and it's okay, but I don't love it.

Can anyone tell me about the Pro Number One 98 and the Speed Pro Number One 98?

Do they have a good ball-pocketing feeling? I need that, but the M Comp 95, while it has that, sort of feels dead or "numb" to me. It lacks feel, and I don't like that.

Any suggestions from the Fischer Faction?

I have used the M Comp 95 exclusively for almost a year and love it. However, I recently strung my new M Pro No 1. 98 at the same tension with the same string it was amazingly clear about a few things:

1. The serve from the M Pro No. 1 98 is hands down more powerful and easier to place(especially the second serve kickers).

2. The groundstrokes are about equal. I will give the M Comp 95 kudos about the return of serve, but the M Pro No. 1 98 gets the nod for feel, touch, volleys, and grinding out groundstrokes.

3. Spin is definitely in the M Pro No. 1 98's favor.

I am seriously thinking of moving from 2 M Comp 95s and 1 M Pro No. 1 98 to the opposite(2 M Pro No. 1 98s and 1 M Comp 95).

Please tell us more about them!

I own a couple of Black Granite Tours 320 grs, all I can tell you is that this is the absolute best racquet in terms of feel( Babolat Excel @ 57 lbs.).
Flat shots, slices, topspin everything feels great with this stick!. I have always liked both Fischer and Kneissl racquts because of their feel and craftsmanship. Love the Kneissl Red Star and would probably switch to the BG tour. The problem is that this sticks are very hard to get in the US and it will be even harder from now on since Fischer has been sold to Pacific strings; therefore, I'm sticking to the Kneissls.

Count me in! Fischer M Pro Number 1 98 racket with full nxt 16 or technifibre x-one biphase @57lbs. Great plow-through and access to spin, but yet maintains flat shots fairly well. Loveee it.

I was wondering if anyone have changed the grommets on their Fischer M Pro#1 98?

Is there a special technique to installing grommets? I notice some of the grommets are flared and I am having a hard time installing those. No problem with regular size grommets.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please tell us more about them!

I have added 16 grams to the handle and 4 grams to the head at 3 and 9 o'clock...I love the feel and spin of the racquet just was having trouble with depth and frame stability...with this setup I am about 10 points HL and can swing easy and get nice pace on the ball, the feel and control are excellent as well as the ability to spin...I removed the grip and shaved the points on the racquet handle and use 2 overgrips. I am also currently using Kirshbaum polys at 55 lbs.

ok here goes

We are the proud users of Fischer racquets! Post here if you are a believer in the greatness that is a Fischer racquet.

Members should specify which racquet and string they are currently using.

Right now I'm using an M pro no. 1 SL strung with a full Babolat VS string job at 60 lbs.

Come out wherever you are, Fischer owners! I know there are a few of you lurking here somewhere!

i do not own a fisher racket, but i have been considering the PRO one oversize.
my question is:
i have suffered all summer with tennis elbow and have been looking at the pro kennex 5G.
everyone tells me the 5G is the racket if you have arm problems but i love the fisher, plus it is about $40 cheaper.
what do you all think of the fisher os as an arm friendly racket compared to the kennex 5g?????

I have played with both the 5g and ki5. I still have a ki5 laying around but am currently enjoying the company of a racquet named M Pro 98. I absolutely love this racquet. Regarding arm friendlines, I found that the Fischer is as good or even better than the 5g/ki5. I find the flex and low power perfect for my game. The increased weight (~12.5oz) in my mind made the racquet even friendlier. I use to still have arm pain when playing with the 5g/ki5 over extended periods of time but with the M Pro 98 arm pain is gone. Although this could be due to increase forearm/wrist conditioning.

i have heard that the fishers are great arm friendly rackets, but everyone really shouts the prase of the 5G.
i am seriously considering the fisher pro one OS (i just like OS rackets).
i could always go to the kennex 5G if the fisher is too heavy.

thanks again

The OS is lighter than the M Pro 98 SL, so weight is prob not an issue. Currently I have mine at #58 with Maixm Touch, but according to others I would start at #55 with your regular string and adjust as needed.

i think you have sold me on the fisher, i just like the OS rackets, what is the weitht of the OS? TW states 11.8 oz strung weight.
i will try the fisher but if arm problems persist, i can always try the pro kennex 5G

i meant to say that i am used to be a power hitter, but am 60 now and the arm pain killed me all summer. the wilson hammer OS i had was very powerful but it has ruined my arm.
i feel the fisher is the answer. my arms are small but i think i could handle the fisher os.

Jim,
Sorry but I thought you were taking about the M Pro 105". I assume that they play very similar but I personally have never played with M Speed Pro version. You can get TW to pricematch the M Pro 105" from a different website if your interested in the lighter racquet.

i am afraid the the weight 10.9 oz is too light, i thought that anything over 11.0z was better for the arm.
the 5G is listed as 11.7oz
do u think the 11.8 oz would be too heavy for my little skinny arms?

Regarding the heavier weight, it really depends on what you prefer. With the low flex, I don't think the weight is going to influence any arm issues. Probably it going to influence more on serve returns, that is if you are playing guys who balst serves and groundstrokes. Read somewhere that you played with wooden racquets before so I doubt the heavier racquet would be an issue.

jimanuel12

Semi-Pro
yes, i played with the old wooden rackets 25 years ago, but have not played with a heavy racket in quite a while, but i think the arm issue would be helped by the heavier racket for now.
i also have a kzen heavy wilson, at 11.2 oz. i wanted to use it after my arm is healed completely.
i think i am going to try the fisher, it is a better price than the 5G and TW is out of the 5G for the moment and the fisher is on sale at $79.00 what a deal!!!

A friend of mine uses this racket and he really likes it.

While he's only 26, he has had a history of shoulder problems and looks for rackets that are very arm friendly. He's been using it for almost a year now w/ no problems.

I also string this racket for him, and I'm using Topspin Concept Pure 17g mains @ 58lbs and TNT Fat Core crosses (the stuff on sale @ TW) @ 60lbs.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, McLovin, but which racket are you talking about? I'm very curious b/c I have a 5g and a demo of a M Pro Number One 98. I also have had shoulder issues--surgery last year and am just now starting to play again. Played 1st tournament match today and served for 1st time in 2 weeks. No pain so far after and very little during.

2 TW sales people said flexibility the more important than Kenetic/Ionic technology for arms. The 5g is much stiffer than the M Pro Number One 98, so perhaps there's something to that.

Have fallen in love with the M Pro Number One 98 and am thinking of putting the 5g on ****.

Excellent discussion, guys. I have an M Speed 105 (red and green), purchased a few years ago (before the lighter-weight M Pro 105 (yellow and green) came out), and I think the MS105 could be a very good solution to jimanuel12's needs.

Pro Kennex's Kinetic and Ki racquets are proven arm-friendly (and play really well besides), but the MS105 is quite arm-friendly as well -- with a couple of additional benefits:

1. Fischer's manufacturing technique results in frames that just feel really, really good -- "the Fischer feel." Crisp, comfortable, lively response and excellent feedback. Hard to describe in more detail, but the feel is unique among all the racquet manufacturers.

2. I found the 105 moves/cuts through the air unexpectedly easily -- much more like a 100 or even a 95. With a lot of OS racquets, I feel like I'm waving a big fan; not with this one.

A couple of notes:

a. The recommended tension range is given as 50-70. Disregard this, especially if you have arm concerns. For some unknown reason, 50-70 is the range in the US -- in Europe, the recommended range is 50-60, which is what it should be, imo and in the opinions of many others on these boards. (I string mine at 58 with Gamma Prodigy 16.)

b. The MS105's grip shape is Fischer's traditional square shape, which can take some getting usd to. The M Pro 105's grip was updated to a more conventional rectangular shape, better imo.

Lastly, I would recommend the heavier version of the 105 to jimanuel12 -- if you don't mind the weight, it's better for your arm.

This is correct. I use the M-Comp 95, which has the new Palette System, and a better grip shape imo. My friend's MS 105 has the older Fischer shape.

Personally, I like the new Palette shape, but my friend had no problems adjusting (he used a Babolat before).
