The ROK

I was looking at an archived page of TW from a while ago and saw the Wilson ProStaff ROK 102. It looks nice and all (including the specs) and was wondering if this bare bones racquet has been reincarnated into an nCode form.

Not really. It was a players racquet, over 12 oz. Maybe the closest thing would be 6.1 95 to the ROK 93.

Thanks Duzza, the best player on my high school tennis team has the n6.1 95 and he let me hit with it and I returned it about 20 minuets later, the 12.2 ounces got to me :( .

Mmm depends on how good you are and what racquet you use at the moment. As I can predict it feels a LOT different ot the H6. So how good are you?

I'd say I'm a 3.0 baseliner, come up to the net every once in a while. After this summer, I'd say that I generate almost all or most of my power thanks to workouts andweightlifting so I'd want something with a smaller sweet spot. The H6 is too powerful and too light for me, so I was looking at something around 10.4-11 ounces. The 16x20 string pattern the H6 has is great because it generates spin, so l prefer that to a dense pattern such as a 18x20.

You can try the i.Radical MP, LM Radical MP.

Also the Dunlop M-fil 200 2006 vesrsion looks interesting. 11.4 oz or something vs the 12.2oz or whatever it was at last year.

Having the muscle to power through shots is great, but I've always believed that weight training is not necessary for tennis. More than weight training and building up muscles is building up endurance for your muscles that you already have. Sure some weight training is good, but I think more repetitions over a period of time will help you more than trying to go up to a higher weight with less reps.

Part of the reason is good mechanics in your swing will always give you power. Knees bent, good turn (of the upper body), and keeping your weight moving forward will always give you power.

No there is not a direct N-carnation of the ROK. The closest would be:

Nblade or N6.1 95 18x20. I never hit with Rok; 93 or 102. But , if I recall from TT

posters; the ROK was low powered and flexible. If you want flexibility then the

Nblade is what you want, although the Nblade is in a 98 sized head, with a

18x20 string pattern. But, the string spacing is more evenly spaced throughout

the head, unlike dense patterns are normally in Wilson racquets. It has good spin

potential. The N6.1 95 18x20; is a good deal more stiffer than the Nblade.

The stings on it are irregularly spaced; more dense at 3&9.

The ROK OS was lighter than the Mid, around 11oz, and was much more powerful. I owned a mid and it was very low powered and very flexy. Strictly for very good players only. I couldn't handle it at all.
