The Single Most Destructive Forehand In Tennis In The Last 20 Years

I am busy doing about 5 different things.

somebody just asked me to do a Hewitt sports image.

I am also working and I am on 2 other forums.

I don't make up anything. as a matter of fact I read it right here at this forum.

somebody said that both nole and murray are on record for saying that nadal`s forehand is the most destructive stroke they have seen.

I'd be interested in seeing that.

In other words, there's no proof :)

Look up the video "toughest opponent atp" on youtube, one of the first videos should be an interview type thing with Murray, Berdych, Ferrer, and I think Tipsarevic. They ask each player a few questions, and one of them is about forehands. Murray says Nadal's is the best. Berdych of course says his forehand is the best lol.

Oh and they all cite Nadal as their toughest opponent :)

Federer's forehand is easily the best. Federer's forehand mainly breaks down his opponents' stronger wing. Nadal's forehand mainly breaks down his opponents' weaker wing.

Federer's forehand cant even break down Nadal's backhand which stands up perfectly well in the exchanges. Federer fans themselves try to claim Federer has a better backhand than Nadal, yet Nadal's forehand easily breaks down the supposably "better" Federer backhand.

I don't mean to be blunt and reiterate but I made many valid points which are essentially fact. I haven't heard any rebuttal so I am assuming we are going with Federer?

For those who say Nadal's forehand is the "most destructive" really doesn't understand the "purpose" of Nadal's forehand.
It's not designed to be the "most destructive". It's designed to be the most durable, to withstand retaliation, and to grind the opponent into submission, which is why when Nadal hits 3+ consecutive forehands, it's the not the 1st, or the 2nd, but the 3rd and onwards that's the most lethal.
It's no wonder this forehand is tailor made for clay.

Compared to Federer and Sampras, their forehands are designed to be "destructive", to end the point right there and then. It's not a rally shot, but a go-for-broke shot, which is why they made their mark on grass more so than the slower surfaces.

go for broke tennis is not working out for roger against nadal.

go for broke tennis just does not work against somebody truly great.

and the objective of this sport is to win tennis matches last time I checked.

nadal`s forehand just does not carve/raft points to destroy their spirit and their will.

nadal`s forehands carves them up piece by piece until there is nothing left on the court but a mere shell of a player.

Certainly, go-for-broke tennis is a dying breed.

But in response to this thread - most destructive forehand in the last 20 years - i do believe it's Federer or Sampras

"Sampras?" courier had a better forehand. sampras was insane on the run, though.

Anyway, Steffi Graf...of course. There's really no comparison in the gap between her and federer. fed modeled his forehand after hers, albeit unsuccessfully.

Again, i'm only talking in terms of "most destructive" as i understand it.

In no way am i saying Sampras has a "better" forehand than say Nadal, when it comes to winning tennis matches.

Nadal's backhand doesn't stand perfectly well otherwise he wouldn't put so much effort to change play to Federer's backhand when he's under attack.

The reason Federer's backhand "looks" worse is because he actually tries to attack Nadal's forehand with his backhand far more often than when Nadal tries to attack Federer's forehand with his backhand.

Anyway, what you said doesn't deny my original point. Federer's forehand mainly attack his opponents' stronger wing whereas Nadal's forehand mainly attacks his opponents' weaker wing.

+1. I've gone to Odds and Ends, and have stopped regular posting. Out here, it is either TDK's stream-of-consciousness dreck, or Death Master's dire need for attention, or Thundervolley's hate-filled, rationality-challenged vitriol.

Better to stay away and use time wisely than to participate in this dumb parade.

Good riddance. Good bye !!

Top 3 in no particular order....

Sampras's running cross court forehand was the best ever seen. The way he would bait Agassi and others to try to go down the line was a thing of beauty to watch. He would have loved to play Djoker because Djokers proclivity to hit the BH DTL.

Federer's forehand after serve was the best ever seen. His putaways after an opponents service return is unequaled.

Nadal's heavy topspin was the best heavy topspin forehand ever seen. The high kicker to the righties BH changed the direction of tennis. However, if he was a righty it would not have been near as effective.

All three are lethal in their own way.

Not just his crosscourt forehand but his down the line forehand is up there with Ivan Lendl as the best two in the Open era.

I believe that there are exactly 3 strokes that changed the court of tennis history:

1. nadal`s forehand of death

2. the Agassi and the safin backhands.

they proved that you can rule the baseline and the sport if you have finishing power off your backhand wing to go along with the finishing power off the forehand wing.

3. the Sampras serve

I would still say prime Federer's forehand was more destructive than Rafa's as a one-off shot to end a rally.

roger`s forehand was exceptional to be sure but it was also backed by a huge serve. he could move it around the box and he could take care of it 90% of the time.

his serve produced a million weak replies which allowed roger to pounce on those very weak replies with his forehand.

many players say that nadal`s forehand of death is the most difficult stroke they have ever faced.

also I have already said that I agree that gonzo`s forehand and roger`s forehand were more explosive.

but nadal destroyed the planet with his forehand.

Federer and Nadal tied.

Federer's may be the best stroke. Prime Federer probably had more variety, pace and attacked more than anyone I have ever seen.

Nadal's may be more effective due him being left handed which allows his bread and butter CC FH to go into rightie's backhand.

Agassi should get an honorable mention.

Okay? Those weren't the only good forehands he hit. You're ignoring the million insane shots he hit that were in the middle of a point. It would be wise not to try to diminish how good his forehand is when there are hours of evidence to the contrary online.

here is the deal sports fans:

gonzo`s and roger`s forehands were explosive and could kill you with a single shot.

but nadal`s forehand alone changes the course of history. he tears you apart piece by piece as he carves your arse up on the court for the whole world to see.

his forehand rips you apart little by little like some sort of extreme torture. first this forehand destroys your will. then it takes away your manhood and until no testicular fortitude is left at all. and then, and only then, it starts to tear away at the very core of mental and emotional state.

his forehand of death doesn't just kill you. it robs you of your very existence for life. forever and ever.

his forehand ruins lives and ends careers.

and it puts 15 million federereeeeeesian missionaries into a state of deep and chronic depression.
