The thing about Iga is..... she's got a long road ahead

She got her clock cleaned by a real ball basher yesterday night, a former #5, and GS champion who knows how to play and how to win, ok. Tough when your opponent is on fire, and she plays the kind of tennis you struggle against, ok.

But I actually saw a better, improved Iga than that of last year, the same one who was able to win the Trophy, who struggled quite a bit in the earlier rounds struggled on her way to the finals and was able to come up with it, without playing her best on any of her matches. If you have been following Iga Swiatek over the last 3-4 years you must have seen how she has phisically grown, only natural, considering how young she was when she broke through the tennis scene (she was only 19 when she surprisingly won the French), she has continued to develop, not only as a tennis player, but her own body as well.
I recall how many questioned her desition to switch to a Tecnifibre frame, especially it being a 98 sq inch head racquet, coming from an overal more powerful 100 sq in racquet. To me it was somewhat logical: a young, still growing woman, developing phisically would eventually need more control to tame her natural power. She struggled in the beginning, but results speak for themselves, it was the right choice for her.
In this years US Open Iga herself stated that she is getting stronger, and it shows, she does look much stronger. She has been serving in the 110's range, yesterday served a couple of 119 mph serves, she showed progress with her serve, going for a bigger 1st serve. It is a sign of things to come, if she continues to develop her serve (she has the motion, developing the racquet head spead, her physical ability) she is just going to become more dangerous. Her groundstrokes too, will become stronger.
To summarize, she is still a player who is developing, not only learning to play a smarter tennis, but she herself, physically, is still developing; I believe we are far from having seen the very best of Iga Swiatek, and that she is in the right track. I saw a better Iga than last years US Open, sidetracked by a power player who got hot (I hope Penko keeps rolling on, actually!). Competition keeps you on your feet, keeps you motivated, keeps you hungry. I feel like she is going to come back with a vengeance now that it has been taken from her.

JAZDA!

She better develop quickly because Sabalenka ain't going anywhere and Rybakina is catching up quick.

Champions find a way to win. That's it.
Dumping forehands and backhands in the net? try more spin with depth? Slice?
