Thin co-poly shoot out!

I am in the process of choosing which co-poly to buy in reel for myself and/or customer. It looks like I might have to buy a couple of reels, instead of a "one-size fit all."

I have 18x20 patterned racquet, so thin co-poly is what I want. Thin as in around 1.20. I DON'T like it too thin (e.g. 1.10) either. I need to try 17g or 1.25 co-poly on my racquet to see if I can get some ball bites.

I'm looking for something that is comfortable yet CRISP and good ball bite. I don't really care about crazy spin (e.g. Blue Gear) stuff cuz too much spin isn't necessarily good. Tension maintenance is not a big deal cuz I'm going to put either a multi/synth gut in the cross anyway; and after about 3 sessions (or 9 hours), any string is basically dead. I like to play with fresh sticks.

I realize that Big Ace is popular here and will probably get a lot of votes; and a lot of peep kind of follow the herd anyway. :) But for those who are unbiased, please chime in.

Anyway, I've narrowed it down to these. Which would you choose?

>>>Silverstring 1.20
I'm playing with this right now. Still forming my own conclusion.

>>>Focus Hex 1.18
I'm playing with this right now. Still forming my own conclusion.

>>>Focus 1.18
Need to buy a set for testing.

>>>Cyberflash/Cyberpower 1.20
Just got a set. Will string it up soon.

>>>Big Hitter/Big Hitter Blue 1.25
Just got a set. Will string it up soon.

>>>Big Ace 1.15 or 1.22
Will be getting a set to try.

Is Cyberflash the same as Big Hitter? What about Cyberpower and Big Hitter Blue? They suspiciously look very similar. And the player feed backs seem to point that way too.

The CyberFlash and Big Hitter are similar. The Cyberpower and Big Hitter Blue appear to have no differences.

I really liked the big ace micro, although i've only played with it once. So hard to get an accurate decision, the balls were soggy and slightly heavy, due to wet carpet, and i was still hitting deep with my normal stroke, so maybe its too powerful for me in the dry

Have you actually play with them all? Did you do a blind test?

yeah, both of my POGs i strung up with full big hitter bed and full cyberflash bed, both same gauge

there is no noticeable difference, the only way i could tell which was which was by reading the print on the strings :) after a while the tension difference showed up, but this was more of a problem with uneven rotating than anything.

but yes, to me, theyre identical. same with cyberpower and big hitter blue; identical.

I'm interested in hearing about the Unique Big Hitter, it sounds like a winner and the price is great...

If Big Hitter is indeed exactly like Cyberflash as reported, then Cyberflash wins easily for its price if you get a reel.

What this potentially means is that Unique is just repackaging Cyberflash and called it Big Hitter.

I like BA 1.17, but don't rule out CP 1.20. It's a very nice string and I for one like it better than CP. Also, consider SPPP in the 1.18: good control, comfortable and reasonable power.

I string with BA 1.17, fits the bill for me...

right now, playtesting TCS 1.20 (the new White stuff) and it is really, really nice! :)

J: Yes I was and it was fantastic. I usually much prefer the men's game, but I have a place in charleston, so at least my lodging was free. As you know from going to the USO, the best action was on the side courts. I got to watch a couple of slugfests over the 2 days I was there with Schynder then Safina and finally Jankovic on the last day. I had great seats in the stadium: 1st row on the 2nd level but it just did not compare to seeing those ladies from 15 feet away. I was impressed with Jankovic's movement and her defense and pretty much blown away with how hard they hit the ball with little or no spin: little margin for error but they still made shot after shot. Also sweet that I got to play every morning before going over to watch ;) I'm def going back next year. Sorry to hijack this thread with my vacay but i'd recommend it to everyone.

Why are you calling Big Ace "1.17"? Shouldn't it be 1.15?

^^No I play with the BA 1.17. I don't know if it's available over here in the US. I've not used the micro only the 1.17 BA but Jono has hit with both and says they are functionally the same. Plus, 1.17 BA comes in red which looks much better than the battleship grey of the micro ;) I do use a lot of BA but am open to any string really. The touch on the 1.17 is really nice. I prefer both the 1.17 and 1.22 BA to the 1.25 versions because of that improved touch. The 1.22 seems quite powerful so take that into consideration.

So not much difference between the Micro and 1.17?

Whats a good soft cross with BA? Maxim touch is nice but any other options?

From your description of what you are looking for you really need to add polyfibre TCS into the test bunch. Does everything really well except hold tension which isnt a big concern for you.

Big Ace Micro 1.15 is the most playable poly I have ever used (except for Luxilon BB Ace 18).
