This is how clueless the American media is about tennis

So I was on MSN's homepage today and they were advertising one of their entertainment specials (aka forced search for hits on Bing) and Djokovic's picture is being used to advertise it.

http://www.msn.com/ (if you hover over Djokovic's picture, a caption pops up and says that he is actually "Raphael Nadal")

So if you click the image and navigate to portion about Djokovic (which can be found here), it becomes an even bigger disaster. The picture used is Djokovic's post-celebration at Wimbledon but every single link on the page is about Nadal (his rank, his home country, his girlfriend, etc.) And again, if you hover over the image, the caption says that it's actually a picture of Nadal.

So did Djokovic or Nadal win Wimbledon this year?

Yes but then he woke up and cried himself back to sleep.

I can't freaking stand that bs...They are so fake and trasparent in their trying to up their searches it's pathetic. If I could take pageviews away from them with my time I would do so just out of spite.

They always lure me in with what seems like an interesting topic and then it's the autosearches on bing...I just close my browser every time.

Nadal is a moral victor, even way past his prime he managed to get a set off Novak playing the best tennis of his life, such an amazing fighting spirit from the old veteran.

Media that are clueless about tennis is an indicator of tennis' status in the culture. Tennis has failed to capture the public's imagination sufficiently for the media to take a real interest.

Clueless? It's an intentional, studied insult, same as feigning ignorance and insisting on mispronouncing players names. We can't be bothered to get our facts straight about you, that's your relative importance in our eyes. We're too lazy to even state your name right. We don't care who you are or what your name is. Because you aren't our player. Like 2009 when they cut off Delpo's acceptance speech. It was about stating a plain fact to the players and fans, you just fill time between our commercials.

Sounds more like a technical error than the ignorance of the entire American media.
This thread sucks.

Winner!

...on MSN's...
They're still in business? Who knew?

God, I am American, but sometimes our ignorance is just plain embarassing.
Don't fall for the generalizations. Happens all over the world. The old saying "it's not what you know, it's who you know" is universal. And for all we know it's an intern from some other country. El Diablo is right - tennis is a throwaway. The hits are miniscule compared to many other sports.

I think it's not that bad compared to watching any highlights of matches on Sportscenter.

Look at this disgrace of a highlight reel and count the errors and inconsistencies, LOL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC4xHRaw1J0

This is the highlights from "the Tsonga kid" in "his first ever Wimbledon final" versus "Nokovic." Also, the reason Nokovic won the first two sets is because the match was incredible.
