Tie Breaks....

So now that we have a dedicated channel to tennis, maybe it is time to pull this abortion from the stomach of tennis? No need to be worried about the time constraints....

Tiebreaks were not original part of tennis, they come about for TV purposes only. No reason to have them if the main TV coverage is a dedicated network.

Are you joking? You want to go back to the days when there were no tiebreaks and every single set had to be won by 2 clear games if it got to 5-5 in a set? I suggest you try and watch Pancho Gonzales vs. Charlie Pasarell from 1969 Wimbledon. Gonzales beat Pasarell by the absurd scoreline of 22-24, 1-6, 16-14, 6-3, 11-9. It was a big reason as to why the tiebreak was introduced into tennis in late 1970 - early 1971.

Yea, because the game is contested like back in those days??? Those scorelines would likely never happen again. Really, think about what you are using as an example, the equipment played with and the surfaces played at the time. Their is no relation to the game being played today.

It would be even more likely to happen these days if there were no tiebreaks.
