That's unhealthy, really. I think you should get rid of those feelings and focus on something more positive. It's not really worth it.

Know that nothing is permanent in this world of ours so Federer and his certain followers will be gone too. Just a matter of time. Besides, he's got some good fans too but it only takes one bad apple to ruin it all, as they say.[/

That is exactly it. And I don’t think his white collar image has been a good thing for a game that has always had classist undertones in the US. Not all his fault I’d course but that kinda fuels my feelings too. And honestly much of it is just when he wins I feel an unexplained rage and feeling of very organic and flowing anger.[/QUOTE]

I know that. As I’ve said several times to others it’s my own problem and I’ve a right to my own misery within reason. But yes I know. It’s just when things aren’t going well in your life you try to escape but yet you seem to find many of the same frustrations there too.

And I know all too well nothing is permanent, just like Echo and the Bunnymen say in a great song of theirs. Thank you for your kindness though I appreciate it.

What do you mean?

Oh did I confuse you there now? My job is done. :p

In any case, it wasn't directed at any of your posts so you may want to relax. I do like your avi. Is it from North by Northwest?

You won't be able to escape from life. I am sure there are things you still like. And life doesn't stay the same always. Things change, my friend. They especially change when you decide to change them. After all, 'you want to be the change you wish to see in the world'. If you loath everything that surrounds you, then you are taking the easy way out, as a lot of people do.

Sad that it was a contest between the magical De Gea and Pogba for you. :p Yeah, let's wait for a few trophies from this group, someone will definitely warm up to me by then. :)

Yeah, you're always going to forget somebody. Not sure if any of the five listed would get in if I was going for during my life.
Could have won the cup, but he fcuked it up, viva John Terryyyyyy. :D

Actually I was too harsh on him. Changing him for Ashley Cole.
I thought you were quite fair. :D

I just meant an “escape” like watching sports and such. No problem. Self pity and bitterness is hard to fight. Especially when you don’t have love and intimacy in your life apart from parental love.

I don't mind playing the bad guy, really if it saves some misery for someone else.

How strange. I just noticed your location which is North by Norhtwest. I swear I didn't notice it before. I haven't seen Arsenic and Old Lace yet. But looks like another typical Cary Grant movie. He's a lot of fun to watch. I love NBN.

I also really like all of the Big 3 tennis players. All of them as well as the five guys I mentioned first are great role models in my opinion.

It used to be all about Tatyana Lebedeva but now it's all about Nafi Thiem. Honourable mentions for Allyson Felix (especially for that running style and elegance) and Jessica Ennis.

Don’t believe I know this athlete but let’s be fair. Alpine skier? If he were to party like a rock star, chances are someone’s losing an eye.

th

Cross country skier :) Petter Northug. He is a funny guy. Even the swedes started to like him after he insulted their king :p

We have some really good and nice alpine skiers too, but there hasnt been a sportsman like Northug before here.
He did get caught driving very drunk. But he raised himself after that and got the love from the nation back again.

Listening to a Petty tribute. The limbo status of his very existence is odd. Either way, there will likely be no new music from him, as we know it.

Will pause and check this.

EDIT: Goosebumps. Gotta dig deep. Work those hills. Reminiscent of some cycling exploits.
Petty is not dead. They changed the news http://wkrg.com/2017/10/02/breaking-tom-petty-found-unconscious/

Cross country skiing is a very good workout. I prefer it over any other winter sport. Skiing was invented here, so its huge here. No other nation in the world buys as much sports equipment as Norwegians. We are way before number 2 on the list.
We love beating the Russians and particularly the Swedes

5. Pete Rose - Arrogant and bitter man who bet on thousands of baseball games in his days of managing, and forced the MLB to ban him for life from the game...

Scariest thing is, this might not be the worst of his behaviour.

I am kind of just discovering baseballs now (I'm not American) and reading biographies. I looked Pete Rose up after reading his background and seeing him as a very, very strange pariah in a sport that normally values individualists.

In turns out that he is in big trouble again for quite serious charges unrelated to gambling.

I don't really dislike anyone other than a handful of wife beaters and murderers (Floyd, O.J. Etc.)

As far as like I only have one strong opinion. It's the only right answer for me:
Muhammad Ali - THE GREATEST
Less about what he did in the ring, and more about the person he was outside of it

Thiam is some athletic specimen. The heptathlon has fostered some fine athletes.

Yeah I forgot about some of the more influential sports figures that really did tremendous things outside the sport - like Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe, etc. Pioneers for social change using their sport(s) to achieve that. :)

Athletes I like:

- Muhammad Ali: He was larger than life and more than an athlete. A very important figure in the counter culture era of the 60s and 70s who fought for equality during the civil rights movements, rejected his draft to Vietnam (got jailed and cost him 3 years of his athletic peak), then later became a humanitarian and philanthropist (most notably as the spokesperson for the Parkinson’s disease). Of course, on the ring, Ali was as untouchable as any sports figure to ever enter their profession. He’s honestly one of the very few athletes who can actually be classified as “heroes.”

- Stephen Curry: One of the most exciting players to watch, not only in basketball but all of sports. Completely changed the way the sport is played both professionally and recreationally. An all-around great guy who always puts the greater good of his team before himself.

- Roger Federer: I’m blessed to say I got to witness this man play out his career before my eyes. Technically speaking, he has the best game any tennis player can possibly have and he’s a model sportsman in many ways.

- Usain Bolt: Again, it’s a blessing to have seen this man play out his career in my living room. Very few things in sports were more exciting than seeing Bolt on the track.

- Tiger Woods: As a golfer, he hit shots I truly didn’t think were possible and he still does them to this day. I know he’s made his mistakes from a husband standpoint, but on the golf course, Tiger wearing red on Sunday is still must see TV.

- Rafael Nadal: Truly a one of a kind athlete. One of the fiercest competitors we’ll ever see who plays every point like it’s his last. Overall, he brought a lot of attributes to the table that we never quite saw before and may not see again in a long time. Seems like a very nice guy off the court too.

- Lionel Messi: Hard to find anyone play the “beautiful game” more beautifully than Leo. He’s also been very active in philanthropy throughout his career and seems like a humble/chill guy off the court.

- Michael Phelps: As a swimmer myself it makes it even easier to admire Phelps. I know he’s had his controversy off the court, but in the pool, he was as close to being a human fish as it gets lol.

Athletes I dislike:

- Alex Rodriguez: I know he’s fixed his rep a bit since his retirement but I was a borderline A-Rod hater for much of his career. He was rude, full of himself, and an overall phony. His teammates and peers all hated him and of course, he got busted for using steroids which tarnshies all his numbers/accolades.

- Carmelo Anthony: A selfish and overrated player. He was a mindless chucker who had a very one-dimensional game and overtly sabotaged Linsanity smh.

- Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Talk about using one’s fame and fortune in the wrong way. He’s nothing but a big POS.

- OJ Simpson: Needless to say, he’s one lucky SOB. Got evicted from a double murder and only served 9 years of his 30 year sentence.

- Lance Armstrong: Great on him for beating cancer and for creating fight against cancer foundations, but on the field, his pile of fraudulent lies eventually caught up with him and ultimately, he disgraced the sports industry.
