Cheers to all, this is my first post here.

I just ordered my first stringing machine, a Tourna 300 CS. I am in Canada and this is from the big rainforest online retailer, so if I don't like it it would be easy to send back. Anybody else have any experience with this particular model?

Thanks,

Bogdan

I've never used that stringer but welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy stringing.

Thanks!.. Somehow in Canada stringing machines are way expensive beyond the exchange rate. This one is significantly cheaper than a comparably featured Gamma, I hope it turns out okay.

Update: it's here!

Everything went much smoother than I expected. First I watched a TW tutorial video, then did a first job on a junk racquet. The only real difficulty was at the very end, when it took some work to push the string through a shared hole to tie the crosses. The awl that came with the machine saved the day.

Next job: my PS 85, which went a lot faster. I looked at the Klipper racquet database to find out exactly where I'm supposed to tie the knots. I strung this one up at 55 lbs, and it feels accurate. I may get a calibrator later.

Feels very sturdy and precise; love it!

Welcome to the wonderful world of stringing your own racquets :)

I ended up buying a Digital Luggage Scale device from the big auction site and it works perfectly fine as a calibrator. Some models have backlit LED displays making them very easy to use in low light conditions or if your eye-sight isn't what it once might have been. Saved a lot of money in the process and it works a treat.

Good idea, I'll look for something like that. Strung up 3 frames so far and it's easier than I imagined. Just need to practice my knots a bit more now. :)

How has been your experience with the tourna for the past three years?

Hi Pshie and group,
I have the machine in question since 2015 and it works quite well. I have strung a couple hundred on this machine and no issues. There are only 3 or 4 manufacturer's of stringing machines, most are in Taiwan. This one is made by Xpider. Companies like Unique Sports, aka Tourna, have it branded/painted for them. The crank is not as smooth as the Prince Neos 100/1500 (the industry standard for crank machines). It is a solid workhorse.

I have strung on Wilson Bairado, Yonex PT-8, most Prince and Gamma machines over the years. For a professional model crank machine, this has almost all the features I find important. If you want more information, reply here or start a private conversation.

I have this machine as well. I really like it; it’s well made and the design is very functional.

I used to have a Neos 1000 and I actually like the Tourna better because of the clamps and six point mounting.

I've been using it for three years now without problems. Can't compare though, this is the only stringing machine I ever had.
