Tourna Grip.

I put the Tourna Grip on my nPro today.......I absolutely LOVE it. I didn't think I would notice a huge difference, but I instantly noticed I had a much better feel of the racquet. Made hitting alot easier, although im still not that great! Anyways, couple of quick questions. I put the overgrip on, and was glad it wasn't sticky to ruin the undergrip (original grip??). Anyways, when I remove the red "tournagrip" sticker that holds it in place, does it typically tear up my undergrip?? Another advantage, at least in my eyes, was that it kept the original grip nice, with this being my first racquet, im trying to keep it as nice as possible...........sentimental I guess.

Thanks!!:D :D

tournagrip feels great but the durability really sucks. you'll find that after a set, the grip probably is starting to tear up.

i wouldn't recommend leaving tournagrip on any racquets for too long of a time. after a while, it'll start to cling to the original grip and when you try to remove it, pieces will bond and tear off and stick to the original grip. it'll be a PITA to remove those pieces.

I love Tourna grip and basically have to use it because my hands sweat to much. Tourna is unequaled when it comes to getting wet, but allowing you to maintain good grip.

That said, be prepared to change grips often, because durability is horrible.

Also, if you sweat into the grip a lot, take the grip off when its wet. Sometimes (not always) if you use a Tourna grip a couple of times and then let it dry on your racket handle, when you take it off, bits and pieces of the Tourna will remain on your grip. This doesn't matter much since you're probably putting another overgrip on anyway.

But, it looks horrible and it is annoying. This could just be on certain racket's grips, I don't know. But Tourna sure does stick to my Dunlop grip.

Yes, the red finishing tape can tear up the grip. Since Tournagrip is cut too short, when you finish winding it over the undergrip, you're usually not up to the bare part of the handle yet. And since the durability of Tournagrip is bad, you have to replace it often, so repeated removals of the tape do mess up the upper part of your undergrip after awhile. If you want to avoid it, do not overlap the red finishing tape onto your undergrip, but just keep it completely on the Tournagrip. Or buy the Tournagrip XL and apply it beyond your undergrip so the red tape only touches the bare upper part of the handle. Either way, the idea is to keep the red tape off your undergrip so there's no tearing when you pull it off. Me, I don't care, and the top inch of my grips are all shot to hell. But I love Tournagrip anyway.

Lloyd, Tournagrip has a dry feel. Some liken it to a paper or cloth feeling. It's not slippery at all and doesn't get worse if it gets wet with perspiration. The "tacky" grips, like Wilson Pro and Supergrap have a slightly rubbery feel to me -- great for holding on to the racquet, but it doesn't work as well if your hand sweats a lot. Tournagrip's main fault is that it is not very durable, and must be changed more frequently than the tacky grips.

To add some more, after more playing time with Tourna, I absolutely love the stuff. The feel is immaculate. Sure, it may look like a blue plyboard, but the stuff could not be better. I already had my first tourna on, so hopefully it does not mess up my undergrip, but if it does, then ill hafta live with it I guess, but thanks for the tips and advice.

I may be new to tennis, but I am playing everyday, slowly getting better, and absolutely LOVE the game. I am also very glad I spent a little money and got a good tennis racquet compared to one of those walmart ones. Everyone said "buy walmart and see if you like it" and I refused, waited a month before I could afford it (21 and in college), and I have never been so pleased in my life.
