Unique Tourna Cross String Savers

I installed an 8x8 grid of these on a new Mojo blend stringjob at about 52/55#. A couple hours later, almost half of the string savers were gone.
They were a pain to install, as they stuck together; installation required a convoluted, upwards jerking motion for each string saver. Totally not worth the meager savings compared to Babolat Elastrocross, which has no-gimmicks installation, and stay put in the stringbed.

I know I should probably man up and just keep paying for the Babolat stuff, but I'm still looking for the cheapest way out. How are the Gamma string savers or the String Eyes listed on TW? What about the string savers from Klipper?

The Babolat, Gamma, and Tourna string saver applicators are all the same in design. Trust me, I've owned all three brands. Also, it doesn't require an "upwards jerking motion" for installation, it's actually a downward push. As for the string savers popping out, it actually happens often when you use a soft multi as one of your mains/crosses.

Unique is not that bad.

But I know what you mean about the string saver not breaking off cleanly.

One positive point for the Unique product is that it is cheaper than the Babolat. You can even get refills only (i.e., minus the tool), which saves you even more money.

Another possibly positive thing about Unique is that it raises the string bed higher than Babolat Elastocross. Some people think that this provides a better spin potential.

The Babolat, Gamma, and Tourna string saver applicators are all the same in design. Trust me, I've owned all three brands. Maybe I wasn't clear - after the Unique string saver has been inserted between the main and cross string, I bend the applicator upwards to release the string saver from the others. It's not the problem with the applicator, but rather the string savers being stuck together.

I used a Mojo blend - gut mains and Iso-Speed Pro crosses. Since I've had zero issues with Babolat Elastocross coming off, I came to the obvious conclusion when the Unique stuff started dropping out like flies.

Don't mess around with other brands, just go straight to the Elastocross.

I've been using them for a while and have had absolutely ZERO problems. And yes, I use them with a gut hybrid.

The Elastocross is rubbery compared to the hard Gamma/Tourna string savers. For the Mojo setup, I'd stay with the Elastocross. But for my full poly setup, I prefer the lift of the Gamma string savers best. Not sure if they do anything except raise the tension, but I'm so used to the feel, that I don't play the same without them.
