I bought 4 months ago the Nike Vapor V and they proved to be a very good pair of shoes. Perfect fit and not very heavy. So when I heard that the new VI's are released I thought that it would be a logical move-upgrade. Things got more interesting when I learned that the new Vapors will be lighter.
I do not have wide feet although my right foot is wider than the left and feels a bit tighter in the Vapor V. And also I have small feet, 40.5 European, and this is equivalent to 8 US. I do not care about durability that much. What I want is very good traction, not heavy weight and good support. So I choose performance than durability.
The other 2 candidates beside the Vapor VI are the Barricade V and the Tirand III. I know that there are negative comments on the Tirand III mainly because of not very good support. The main reason Tirand III is a candidate it's its weight. I have small feet and I do not weigh more than 68kgs/150lbs so Tirand III may be able to offer reasonable support.
The weight difference is not small and it goes like this:
Barricade V: 17.1oz/484.6gr
Tirand III: 14oz/396.7gr
Vapor VI: 15.1/428gr
The difference in weight between the Tirand III and the Barricade V is huge, almost 100gr. I think the Vapor VI is the middle solution and maybe the best.
As I have written before, do not care about durability that much so the 6 months guarantee of the Barricade does not say much. I am focused mainly on performance.
