Upgrade Time?

My backup racket is a 1st gen Pro Staff 97L. It is so utterly old and bad that I don’t even bring it when I play tennis. Do you think it’s time I buy a newer one? Such as the RF97L or the RF97L Bold?

What makes the 1st gen "old and bad"? dr. godmode is right, the racquets will all pretty much play the same, so if I were you I would just stick with the old one and get it re-strung or something, unless by "old and bad" you mean cracked and unusable. Unless you just want a new racquet, in which case, get a new racquet?

I couldn’t find the RF97L or RF97L Bold on TW.

You might as well upgrade and while you are at it, why not try some other frames as well to cross check what is out there at present to give you a chance to compare.
