UTR Flex Leagues

Just got an email from UTR that they are launching a flex league here in the Atlanta area. It looks like they already have flex leagues in a number of other cities and I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with them.

Atlanta might be a tough market for them to crack with this. I already play in flex leagues from UltimateTennis, T2 and LeagueTennis and have generally had good experience with all three; most people are friendly and responsive and the play is usually competitive. I have noticed that when I enter scores into UTR from my matches that it is rare to have an opponent that is already registered with UTR. I am intrigued by the idea of the expanded player pool of a UTR league with their lack of age or gender boundaries, but I'm not sure if there are enough people participating to make that happen.

So, anyone played in these leagues yet? Thoughts?

UTR carries more weight in the tennis community than Ultimate, T2, or League Tennis, which are basically goof off leagues. There will be a ton of interest in UTR leagues in Atlanta.

ultimate is not a goof off league here in Atlanta. Pretty strong players at every level. T2 and league may be goof off for singles but T2 has good doubles flex competition.
UTR seems generally geared towards juniors i think. Most of the events i see are for 18 and under. They do have some prize money open events for adults. Doesn't seem to be much
for like an average adult advanced player like (7-9 utr). There is also a cool singles ladder here that is sponsored by Tennis warehouse and usta. Definitely a tough market to crack.

That hasn’t been my experience. In Atlanta, ultimate is the league where you have USTA 4.0 players populating a 5.0 league and lots of pretty good but not great guys in the 6.0 league. Much less competitive than USTA. And no one ever asks you what your Ultimate rating is.

T2 and League tennis are definitely joke leagues where people essentially show up and try to play unconventional styles just see if it works, test out new gear, stand you up for matches, etc.

not sure when you played, but in 6.0 division here there are UTR 11 and up playing.,Ultimate levels do not lineup with usta. Ultimate 5.5 and 6.0- are mostly 4.5 usta. 4.5 and 5.0 ultimate are mostly 4.0 players. Ultimate 5.0 level does not mean there will be 5.0 usta level players.
