Hey, tommorrow is the official tryouts for our varsity team. I need some good advice to go in with.

As i have been playing throughout the week, I feel as if I am not playing to the best of my potential. I feel as if something is holding me back. In feeling so, I ditched my rather weak 2hbh and now switched to the more comfortable 1hbh.

I dont know what it is, but Im not winning when Im supossed to be winning and im not feeling so great going into tommorrow's tryouts.

What are some good last minute tips going into some big matches?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

block out all the negatives about your strokes, and rather just trust them for what they are. Try and have some fun, and be as relaxed as possible. I gurantee you the more relaxed you are, the better your strokes will be. :)

Definitely have some fun out there. Don't go in to it with a "play conservative" attitude. Show that you can play with confidence and put up a good fight, win or lose. I would rather lose a "big match" knowing that I went for my shots and missed than held back and didn't play my game. Stay loose, embrace the challenge and you'll be fine

In the end, make the team or not, use it as a learning experience by watching all of the good players around you and using it to improve your game.

Best of luck to you, report back how it goes after day 1.

-relax.
-theres not much you can do about your strokes now, so stick with what you have and don't go changing your strokes tomorrow.
-have fun
-think positive
-everyone else is going to be nervous just like you
-focus, remember all you know, you have been training for this day.
-good luck.

first of all, switching to a 1bh isnt going to make you win matches right away. when sampras switched he was losing a lot at first but then won 14 slams. get used to the one hander and build a game around it and it will be fine.

tips for matches:
-think postivie, have fub
-try your best
-HUSTLE (i had a bad tryout frosh year and the coach didn't take me cuz i gave up, never give up and always give it your all coaches love it)
-play your game, not you opponents

Think positive and show your coach that there is nothing in the world you would rather be doing than playing tennis :D
