In her first round loss to Suarez Navarro, Venus Williams displayed a slightly different service motion, to her usual one and is also rumored to be using a new, lighter racket. I wonder if this change in motion is a last ditch attempt, to alter her game and try and gain more consistency in terms of her first serve. She reverted to her usual motion in the second set, but its good to finally see her trying something new. I really hope she continues to use this new motion and begins to see success, and decent runs in the next tournament and also the US Open. Despite her age and her illness, this run of consecutive first round losses, is probably the worst I've seen her play in a long time. Without a decent serve, its going to be tough for her to win matches, through her reduced movement.
