I've been playing with the DNX 8 since it came out. It's my first Volkl. Would the V1 classic give me more pop. Anyone that knows Volkl racquets please feel free to answer.

The V1 Classic is less powerful than the DNX8. What string and tension have you been using? Is it more power you are lookin for or less?

I'm happy with the power of the DNX 8 but have heard alot about the V1 classic. A little more control would be better. The Volkl website list the classic as more powerful. No Volkl dealers in my area so this is a great forum for info. I demoed the DNX 10 Mid, a little under powered for me but great control. I was just wandering if the V1 classic may be a better fit. Also you have said the V1 would support you as you improve. I'm a 4.0 all courter now but hoping to improve. Thanks for answering my post NBMJ.

no problemo big daddy. i dont think the Classic is more powerful than the DNX8....i'm a big fan of the Classic..it's been around forever..i think it will give you more control than the DNX8. If you're happy with the DNX8, just stick with it and maybe tweak around your string setup

erw i think you may find more control with the Classic depending of course on your setup

Bigdaddy,

A great resource for data on the Volkl V1 Classic is David Calechman (see "Reference" section for contact). I'm currently playing with the V1 Classic but have not hit with the DNX8 so have no comparison impressions. I think the Classic is the kind of recquet, though, that does "expand" to the level of player using it. I've customized it by leading up a little at 3 and 9 but I would still like to have a little more pop but then I'm just a 3.5-4.0 senior player. Best thing about the Classic is that it truly is "arm friendly." Contact David and see what he has to say. Good luck.

Thanks for the info coop. The DNX 8 is a great racquet and I have had great results with it. I do have a sore shoulder but that might just be my old age. Arm friendly is a very big factor. and I've heard alot about the V1 classic. I've got a couple of tournaments coming up so I'm going to tweak my set up on my DNX 8, maybe try some gut string.

If you try gut BigDaddy, I highy reccomend the Klip Legend Armourpro in this frame. It wears like crazy and the strings lock better somehow and it's got a lot of bite and a little less power than some of the other gut strings..i noticed the strings moved on me quite a bit in this frame strung around 58-59 and the Legend seems to help a lot in that department. if you've a bum shoulder, the V1 is going to be a more comfortable ride for you ..it's a very comfortable hit in spite of its stiffness

Thanks, I will try the Klip. I can order it form TW. Do you know anything about the U.S. Volkl website going away.
