Watching highlights from Shanghai again....

And wow... the courts are fast! Like Nadal and Djokovic both said, even faster than Beijing. I love it. The Nadal vs Delpo highlights are amazing and the quickness of the court just makes the match so much more intense. I think IW or Miami should switch to a surface like Shanghai just to have another fast court masters during the year without them all being crowded at the end. Is Paris faster than Shanghai or no? And how did you like the court speed?

Yea, I like the Shanghai court speed a lot. I think we need majority of hard and indoor courts set at this speed to offset the advantages of 100+ square inch heads and polyester strings.

I think the US Open should play like Shanghai. Nadal wouldn't have won a US Open if it did.

According to this (from 2011, I don't think the court speed has changed much since then), Cincy and US Open are both faster than Shanghai and Beijing. The fastest major is still Wimbledon.

I noticed how fast the surface was during the Del Potro-Almagro match. There were barely any rallies at all.

Tennis needs some fast surfaces. I hope Basel/Paris/WTF are at least half as fast so that we can see some aggressive players make a dent.

Doesn't make sense, both tournaments are played in march, why playing on grass in march ?

Shanghai is a true Decoturf court like US Open used to be a couple years back.

Totally agreed. That was the fastest surface I can ever remember seeing. Really, really fast. It was cool to watch, no doubt. And Rafa did just fine. A semi is a good result as he would say. You can't win them all.

Yeah he likes to play on fast courts and is certainly better than ever on them. Delpo was just beasting. No shame. Courts like Shanghai are good for the game. I hate that we have to wait so late in the season for them.
