I only started watching tennis since 2006 and because of that have not been able to witness many great matches. I was wondering if you guys could reccomend 10 matches, that as a tennis fan, one should watch for high quality matches and the high tensity as well. I don't necessarily want to watch a beat down, so any matches that are rather close, but still great quality tennis would be nice. I guess, just to narrow it down, within the last 2 decades, so 80's til now. I guess thats still a lot of matches, but I feel like I missed out on great tennis within the last two decades. You guys can count out wimbledon 2008 if thats on your list because I have already seen it. Thanks in advance.

Well I can't really give you ten matches...as I know more about 80's womens tennis then mens and have seen more womens matches from that era due to taped television. but here are a few mens matches I would Recommend from the 90's and beyond:

1998 Wimbledon Final Between Sampras & Ivanisevic

1992 Wimbledon Final between Agassi & Ivanisevic (one of the first tennis matches I remember watching as it was played, a really good match)

1999 French Open Final Between Agassi & Medvedev

1999 Us Open Final between Agassi & Todd Martin

2001 Wimbledon Final between Ivanisevic & Rafter (this was a really good match, one of my personal favorites)

Like I said...can't really recommend 10...but these were pretty good matches, at least in my humble opinion.

Not a problem. I limited my range to the Slams because those will probably be easier for you to find in some form or another, but those were all really tight 5 set matches so there is plenty of excitement in them

WCT Finals 1972 : Rosewall versus Laver 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6

Excellent choice this battle of all battles. In a way unbeatable. One of my top ten favorite matches. Rosewall here -- unfathomable... The duels, the shotmaking, the drama, the thrills and last but definitely not least the clutch by Kenny in the end against Mr. Clutch-maestro himself!

Maybe of one of my top five matches. Hard to judge.

A few personal favourites:

1981 volvo masters final lendl beats gerulaitis from 2 sets down and there's some stray cat that runs across the court a couple of times.

1984 french open final lendl finally gets the monkey off his back and wins his first grand slam title from 2 sets down to mcenroe and for once the crowd is rooting for him...mac regards this loss as the biggest disapointment of his career.

1988 nabisco masters final becker beats lendl in an epic, won't find a more dramatic ending then this one.
