What do pros eat the day of a huge match?

Most pros sacrifice food as a love throughout their career in any sport, so what they eat any given day is not much different to what they'd do on other days. As a general umbrella, I'd think they take more carbs in the morning for energy, balance of fibre, carb and fat by noon. On a match day a 2pm , if it were me, I'd have lunch early noon, by 12, so that in 2 hours, that food is out of stomach and in the intestines, ready to supply energy. Specific foods will vary based on the native food habits obviously, I'd take rice for carbs, Federer might have pasta. Novak may take bread without gluten, it's all carbs in the end.

I played regionals and knew a lot of pro level players. Most timed their day to use the bathroom prior to a match giving 2 hour window. It's not too hard. If playing a double header which was often given the weekend format they'd just do that twice.

Energy during match mostly in liquid form.

We need a new thread to discuss how often pro players use toilet breaks to do number 2, and time allowed for that.

Most pros say they eat pasta for a quick glucose supply to burn through the match. Their prep and diet throughout the week (and their nutrition in general) fills out their glycogen reserves for sustained stamina as matches wear on.
