What happens with Yonex?

Currently there are no player among the top global brand with a very good shoe but that happens with the players? Verdasco went there and no one in the bedroom. Nalbandial and Hewitt already had their time and Monaco and Ancic are not top players worldwide.

They have a decent amount of women players. They are not top ranked but there are alot.

previously had to Hingis, Seles ,.... there are many players but no quality, but Ivanovic ...

Tennis is not a priority to them just marketing, they make most of their profit from badminton, then golf. Tennis is a very distant third.

If your top 1000 in the world you are playing at a very high level. Those guys are like around top 50, theyre very good players

They just dont want to pay the big bucks to sponsor big name players.
In terms of quality of their racquets, I would say they are one of the best, if not the best.

Yonex has Dementieva at #5, Kleybanova & Kirilenko are #27 & 28 on the women's side. I don't know if any of those names are really that useful for marketing in the U.S. but maybe globally a bit better. Certainly I would think all three are well known in Russia at least!

Seems to me that the more big time players a brand has, the worse their quality control. Babolat and Wilson have terrible quality control and have a ton of players (as does Head). Yonex has hardly any players but great quality control. I'd rather pay for the quality of the frame, not player sponsorships.

Volkl make very good frames, but they dont pay out. Becker and McEnroe used them, can be crap. Lots of good players use Yonex, its just they buying public are mainly sheep

Nalbandian is a great player on all courts, very talented. I think he is injured now, but I thought he would be challenging for majors regularly. I don't know if it is a mental/desire thing?

Nalbandian's serve isn't good enough from what I recall from watching him over the years and he seems to kind of tank it at times.

They better get some good players to sign on. Otherwise, they could make the best rackets and they might not sell.

Yonex needs a little more publicity. When nalbandian was on form a couple of seasons back using the RDS001MP, people were talking and asking about it on the courts.

compare that to RDIS100mp - we seldom hear any talk on it after the inital release.

I used to play with Head, Prestiges; until they really pissed me off. I bought 3 racquets, MicroGels, they were pretty far off in weight and balance; so it took me a good few hours to get them all similar; Head used to be quite good about it but, I guess since they make they racquets in China now, they dont really care. And then, one of the racquets had a slightly smaller grip than the other two. I bought them in Canada, but I live in Sweden; I called the Swedish rep and he said he would not do anything about it. So *** it, I played with them for a few years and now I am done with them; one less Head customer and one more Yonex customer. I love my Yonex!

I worked in a top spec tennis store for 5 years and was main stringer. What I have noticed is that Head and Wilson's return policy is a joke. They accept nearly anything in the UK. I once lost my temped and cracked my MG Radical OS on syn grass and sent it back and they replaced it strait away. The same thing occurs with Wilson. What I'm getting at is that the quality control is crap! They take anything back as they expect it because there not making as string and rigged frames. Now Babolat on the other hand in the UK are nuts, they take nothing back!

I will have to agree with your statement, but I fear as more new fames from Yonex are made in China they will QC issues too.

Nalbandian is (outside of Murray I suppose) the best men's player to not have won a Slam. Dementieva fits the bill on the women's side, and might have done so this year if not for a torn muscle. Who could predict that Ana Ivanovic would lose her focus after Verdasco... I mean after losing Roland Garros. And speaking of Verdasco, well we all know that he won an event with the RDiS 200 and then went to Dunlop, King of signing players to play with their old frame painted with the flying D. Ancic has been nailed with mono and now is injured after coming back after so long off the tour. Yep, The Navratilova glory days are over for the moment, but we all know YY isn't Head or Wilson... YY makes quality racquets and isn't focussed on massive mass production - and never has been. Like wondering why Maison du Chocolat doesn't have the same market penetration as Hershey's...

+1 I love how people think that any player ranked 100 in the world sucks.

Plus we have to keep in mind that tennis is not Yonex's key business - badminton is. That's where most of the marketing efforts and resources are directed. I don't see them shelling out big bucks to a tennis player just to make them switch from another brand.

Don't forget that Yonex is huge in Japan and they have a lot of juniors coming up on their sticks.
I also agree that their badminton business is bigger than all the tennis put together.
