What is Kvitova doing?

Was firing coach Kotyza a good decision?

I can see her needing a coaching change but judging by her physique in the past I would be concerned about her being lazy if left to her own devices. Not to mention dealing with simple logistics on the tour is a pain in the @SS which takes a lot of time.

Good luck though, she seems like a nice person.

She likes kids and family. She likes being at a quite home. She is not a tour material for sure.

He needs a lesson for himself as he is ranked No.165 right now.

He is getting too old for the tour but that doesn't mean he wouldn't make an excellent coach. However, his past history with Kvitova probably rules out any further relationship, professional or otherwise.

Petra lost to No.60 ranked Madison Brengle 0-6, 7-6, 6-3 in Dubai.
She bagels the opponent in the first set and then loses focus.
She doesn't seem to be in the right direction. :(

Disappointing, but even if Kvitova were to retire in four weeks time, she would still have had an amazing career.

Two amazing Wimbledon final performances and wins and some memorable matches.

She is one of my favourites so I hope she keeps going and works out a way to enjoy the tour for many many years to come.

Not nice...even if true.

She's had focus issues throughout her entire career, and then, there's the "heat" issue at the USO & AO; after being on tour for so long and knowing / preparing for every major in every type of climate, it seems like she's never committed herself to becoming used to heat. It's not like she did not know what to expect year after year after year....

she is such an under achiever...she has so much potential, should've been on top for longer and have 3-4 more slams at least. pity...

Not really familiar with her team, so I'm not sure what to think of firing her coach and the reasoning behind it, however she looks like a genuinely nice person and I wish her the best of luck, and get back to her best game and improve even further as she really has the potential!

I am really getting disappointed in her. Conditions couldn't be better than what it is right now.

- Serena is getting older and making mistakes and losing matches.
- Sharapova is up and down, not the same she used to be. Not winning anything big for a while now.
- Azarenka is trying to get back in top form but not the same player.
- Li Na retired long time ago.
- Radwanska is also not in her peak anymore.
- Even hard-working Halep is bad this year and also prone to injuries.
- Newcomers Muguruza, Bencic, Pliskova are not ready for top competition.

In this kind of environment, Penetta is winning a GS, Vinci and Muguruza making finals, long time No.8 resident Kerber winning the AO.

Kvitova should have been No.1 or 2 by now and we're still talking about potential. She is 26 yo already.

Ye, I agree. The WTA seems to be the total opposite of the ATP right now - so many different players with the chance of winning big titles. Looks like that US Open semi-final made things interesting again :)

Petra definitely doesn't seem to be at her best lately. I recall her taking a rest from the tour for about two months, then she was dealing with health issues. Haven't seen her in action for a while now, but she is one of my favorite WTA players. Without a doubt she has all it takes to be No.1, except the consistency so far. However, let's not be too hard on her about it - she has achieved great things, surely she has the potential for more then that, but we don't know what she is going through. You've said in previous posts that she's not tour material and would rather have kids and family life - while there's nothing bad in this, she has definitely proven to be tour material and a fighter, she deserves credit for that :)

Hopefully she recovers soon from whatever she's been going through. Sharapova doesn't have the talent Petra has IMO but she has 5 GS.

Well, I don't think she will quit the tour anytime soon. She might really be more emotional, hence why she took a rest from the tour. That is a big part of the whole thing, if she's had to deal with different health issues, injuries, etc, combine this with being naturally more emotional - all that might have just exhausted her mentally and even lead her to depression.

Her game really stands out to me. With that serve and forehand she can really dominate the WTA (well, given Serena's not at her best that is...). Sharapova looks like a really hard worker and has used her chances.

I'm still surprised she lost that match to Jankovic at Wimbledon up a set. Didn't she make the Finals of the Year End Championships, though? That's a recent positive.

Ye, she did play the YEC Finals. On the other hand, as much of a positive that was, one could argue it's yet another missed opportunity, as Aga got to the final being 1W-2L in the Round Robin stage.
