Well since most of us here don't play tennis as a profession, I thought what would people consider while choosing a string?

-Price?
-Color?
-Durability?
-Quality?

As for myself, I choose strings mostly for their color and then durability... anyway price-tag is the last thing for me but I see many people here buying cheaper string reels with the same length as more expensive ones!!

Just curious!

half the strings i buy are for players like you

for those that are capable of telling the difference, i go by quality and comfort.

price/performance ratio is most important.
if i would go by colour and durbility only, most probably kevlar would fit the bill (i play heavy topspin!) and my health would be a big issue. i want playability first and foremost.
while flat hitters and ones that don't hit really hard can get enough time out of premium multis (irrespective of colour), it is difficult to generalize, as according to playing style the price/performance ration can be quite different for different hitters.
a flat hitter can get a good price/performance ration by playing with 17g natty gut, while i would definitely enjoy it but would not be able to afford it.

There are some strings that offer superior performance, if you are willing to pay the price.
Most of us are not, except when it comes to a critical match.
Even then, a fresh set of middle-line strings is better than an old set of 'The Best'!

BTW, Not to be the Grammar Police, but criteria is already plural.:)

Haha... sorry for that, I'm not a native-english so my english isn't perfect!

As for myself, I use babolat pro hurricane tour 16 strings (Which is yellow) It's got a great price/quality/performance ratio IMO... I can hit for more than 4-5 hours with it and it still has its first feeling!!

I hope people also mention their string brands and types...

Price to performance or "Value"

But in the end, I go off of price. I consider only strings that are $100 or under per 660 reel. Just recently I have been considering upping that budget to $150 because I might switch to kirschbaum competition, Signum pro hyperion, and poly fibre tcs..

I think that's Greek LOL!;)
Seriously, I only string for others, not myself, so price/performance is No.1. Color would be second.
I have a range of strings to give my customers what they want/need.
Sometimes I have to use the high-priced stuff for exceptional performance in the short-term or for a specific 'feel'.
For example, If you love NXT, you may think MCS is underpowered.

How I rank them
1. Price. Tennis is a hobby. No natural gut for me.
2. Performance. What's the best string in the price range for me?
3. Durability.
4. Color. Doesn't matter. I prefer white though.
