When Djokovic retires without ever winning Roland Garros, will you say he "failed"?

Yes, the 2011 season's h2h record, including djokovic 's wins in clay finals, is enough to convince me Djokovic has found the right answer to Nadal's game. So Novak will have failed if he can't beat Rafa at FO.

I wonder what happened in 2012 then, because Nadal won 3 out of 3 clay meetings and only dropped one set in total. Nadal almost lost to Isner at Roland Garros 2011, so Nadal was probably just out of form in 2011. And not just because of the Isner 5-setter (the only 5-setter Nadal ever played at RG) but the final too vs Federer when Nadal was hitting the ball with very little penetration/depth.

OFF TOPIC: Why US flag besides Lendl

Djokovic will probably win a RG title during his career even though his winning percentage on clay is not that great. Not good enough to be in this top 10.

Why is there a US Flag besides Lendl - didn't he play all his tennis under Czech flag?

I think Djokovic has to win French to be considered one of the greatest. This I believe is the major problem for Borg (US open) & Sampras(French Open) - moves them down 1tier in the all time greats.

While I am at it - Olympic Gold as well!

Stupid thread since Lance is going to win RG this year.

We get that Nadal has abnormally high levels of stamina and takes mysterious injury breaks. But referring to him as "Lance" without any proof of him doping is just....rude. Show the 7 time RG champ some respect, will you ?

I think it's very difficult to win all 4 slams. Very few players have done it. Even Fed needed stars to align to do it. It is definitely not a given that Djoko will be able to achieve it. He wouldn't be the only one and it doesn't mean he couldn't achieve other great things: Lendl, McEnroe, Borg, Connors, Sampras are not considered "failures" just because they haven't won all slams. They're still considered tennis greats.
One is bound to have some regrets in the course of their career: Fed never got Olympic gold (in singles) , Rafa hasn't won WTF and Novak doesn't have RG. So far, no player has managed to win everything that matters during their career. Some have been close. Maybe someone will do it one day.

Well, Agassi has been able to do that. And in an era when surfaces played even more differently than nowadays.

Damn right, show some respect. It's not like Nadal all of a sudden wins majors left and right. He's been doing that for eight straight years. Also, it's not like he started out with weak stamina and suddenly started outlasting everybody.
