When is it time to get a new bag?

Hey,

I was wondering generally when people change their tennis bag. Mine so far isn't too small or too big or anything, but for some reason I'm attracted to the Nike Bags. I think this is a really lame reason, but I've always had a fondness for having the same brand of bag as racket, and if I change from Wilson to Babolat for my next set of rackets, then it would annoy me in a really weird way. Thats why I want Nike, since its universal in terms of rackets, and I rarely wear athletic clothing besides Nike. So what could I say possibly to my parents when I change rackets that I want a new bag lol.

Form and function are way more important than the brand. It might be useless to tell you that given your first post, but I just thought I should say it.

When I went off to tennis camp last summer, I needed a larger bag and the best value for the features for me was the babolat 12 pack. I'm not currently using a babolat racket (never have) but I liked the bag a lot and it's perfect for me.

I'm probably changing racquets soon (dunlop--->wilson) but i'm still keeping the bag.

I personally keep my bag consistant with brand. Since a bag has nothing to do with one's on court play, I see no problem in picking a bag based on looks or brand. I buy a new bag when:

1. My old bag rips
2. My old bag can't hold everything I'd like it too
3. I buy a new racquet. A lot of places, TW included, sometimes offer a discount on a bag when you buy a new racquet. I got a nice 6 racquet babolat bag for $20 a few years ago when I bought a babolat.

thank you rosenstar!! For a while there I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand the bag and racket brand not matching!!

But anyways, does anyone know how good the nike bags are? I really think I should get one of those because its universal. It will be the only bag I'll ever have to buy again until it tears. So can anyone comment on the nike bags?

i have this nike one. it's 6-8 pack. really big. it's flimsy, so if you want it to hold shape it needs to be full.

I like to have my bag and racquet match too, and I think a lot of people do. That said, if all of a sudden I switched racquet brands, I don't think I'd immediately go out and buy a new bag, unless my old bag really wasn't usable (like if it has a rip or something) or a new bag is heavily on sale or something.

But I actually am getting a new bag because I want one with two backpack straps. I have an old Dunlop bag, that is still fine to use, but the one strap is really putting a strain on my shoulder.

I am more open to any brand of bag for my racquets. I play with Wilson racquets and use a Babolat Team 6. I mean my decision to get Babolat over Wilson wasn't a struggle. I personally like the design of the bag and the durability that i am hearing from my teammates and others.

My advice to people struggling to pick a bag to just find one that is stylish, durable and one that fits your game.

Get a job and forget what your parents say or think.

Or just cram your bag with a bunch of stuff and say you need a bigger one.
