Where no racket has gone before...

Towards the end of my recent vacation to Sardinia I got more and more restless...doing nothing for more than a few days seems not to go so well. I needed to get ride of some energy. I decided to go for a hike, not really certain where to and how long for....but I knew that there are tennis courts that I would pass on my way, so I took my racket and a few balls along in my backpack. In the end, I did not play tennis, except for bouncing balls while I hiked, but I took a few pics of my "travel companion".

Where have you taken your racket? Or where has your racket taken you?

Nice pics and probably one of the best travel companions you can have. No leather on your base grip? Too hot for wearing leather I guess.

Haha...it is an old Italian Military station. Original Wilson leather under the Pro Overgrip. I would travel with this companion any time again ;-)

Nice pics of a beautiful place -- with perhaps the most diverse and delicious food of any region in Italy. Tennis sounds good to work off the calories and build an appetite for another multi-course meal with plenty of Vermentino to wash it all down.

"Flat Stanley" was a construction paper figure that my nieces (and probably lots of other kids) used in grade school. they would mail him to a family member or friend who would take him somewhere and take pictures of Flat Stanley's adventures. they'd then email or post the pictures online and make a list of all the places he'd been over the course of a school year.

I play this string since ages: Signum Pro Poly-Speed Spin 16 (1.28) / it is also sold as a no-name in Switzerland. Now they are running out and I think I need to stock up a bit on the string.

I agree, a new grip is needed...but it actually looks worse than it is. I was walking/climbing up through a burned down bush forest. Hence my hands go black from holding on to burned branches and the black soil...from there it went to the grip.
Next time I will make sure to bring a new grip along for the photo-shoot haha!

Excellent idea for a thread!
Though 2 minor complaints:
1. Leave the filters to the professionals
2. Looks like quite a fat gauge of strings. If not using gut, the gauge in that racquet should be no more than 1.20mm.

1. I leave it to an app on my iPhone, Hipstamatic. I will happily take along my Nikon next time and send you the pics for filtering, if you are a professional.

2. See above for the string specs - It is 1.28, I play this forever and it is good enough for me. There used to be a thinner version of the string, but I am not sure if I ever used it, but my friend has and liked it.

...go ahead and show me how to do it better ;-)
