I posted this a couple weeks ago, but I'll give it another shot as I initially posted it in the Former Pros Talk section, which caused it to have a bit less replies and views overall.

So anyways, which decade produced the greatest tennis players? We'll go from players born in the
1930s all the way to the 1990s.

Some notables include:

1930s - Laver, Rosewall, Emerson and Hoad

1940s - Newcombe, Nastase and Ashe

1950s - Borg, Connors and McEnroe

1960s - Lendl, Becker, Edberg and Wilander

1970s - Sampras, Agassi, Courier and Kuerten

1980s - Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray and Wawrinka

1990s - Zverev, Dimitrov, Raonic, Kygrios and Thiem

Impossible to pick. Every eras produces great players.

1990s - Zverev, Dimitrov, Raonic, Kygrios and Thiem

But I have a feeling this Millennial crop will under-perform the other eras.

I don't know. It's hard to say, for me at least. The game has changed so much. I'm old enough to remember when wooden racquets were used and how the game was played with that. Now composite racquets produce so much power and speed on tennis balls that tennis is played much different from the recent past.

I'd probably say the players born in the 80's are the strongest group of players too. Their top end talent is superior to every other decade, the only one that can somewhat compete with them is the players born in the 1930's, but that was when tennis was still sort of a country club sport and it had yet to evolve to what it is today. Plus, the second tier talent and beyond is greater than ever before in the big 3/4 era. I honestly believe the entire field of the Fed/Rafa/Djoker era, especially from 2007-2013 in particular, was deeper than any other span in tennis history
