Going to demo the Dunlop 4D 300 Midplus, Dunlop 4D 300 Tour, and Yonex RDiS 200 Light.

Couldn't really find a 4th I wanted to demo in the same weight range so I'm going to order a racquet with a bit more heft than those three just to demo beside the lighter racquets. I've narrowed it down to the 5 choices listed.

IYO, which one is the best racquet for playing singles as well as doubles?

YT Radical Pro

The YT Radical Pro is a heavier swinging racquet than the Prestige Pro. Static weight may be lower, but balance is different and swing weight is higher. Plow through is phenomenal.

If you want a heavy swinging hammer of a racquet that's still a bit head light...try it.

I play with nBlades about 11.1 oz, but last week I played with the BLX tour (aka BLX90) and was very impressed. You didn't mention your game style....for me the BLX 90 gave me a lot of power, and my 1HBH improved. Its a very fun racquet as it forces you to focus on the game...and the heft will mean u will have to work more :)

Personally I don't think they are heavy, but I think you might like the Wilson BLX Six-One or the Tour. Go with either of those. Good power, spin and balance with those sticks.

I am not sure why would you use such a different frames to test at the same time! Any of those 5 frames above will play quite different compared to the lighter ones you specified and I am not sure how useful that will be, but that is just me of course.

Of those 5 heavier ones, Volkl will be the closest to those other frames mainly because of its size. All the others (aside from BLX 95) are 90 sq in, while Volkl is actually 93.

Hope this helps!

Basically I used to always use a heavy racquet...T-2000, ProStaff 85, Rossignol F-200, Prince Original Graphite. Recently found that I liked the maneuverability and doubles play with a lighter racquet. So that's why I'm looking at the lighter racquets. Ordering a 'heavier' one just to see if I could still play with a heavier racquet (ie: is staying light what I really want) and to see how one of the heavy weights from today plays.

Actually may take out the lighter 4d 300 I was thinking of ordering and may order two heavy and two light.

BTW: Head 98 sq in, Yonex 98 sq in, Volkl 98 sq in, BLX 95, BLX Tour 90.

Thanks for your input.

Don't miss the Dunlop 4D 200, even though it's not on your list. And, for that matter, the Dunlop 4D 200 Tour and the Volkl Powerbridge 10 Mid (I liked it better than the MidPlus).

Good to see you're not getting all ADHD on us. :) Personally, I'd pay more attention to balance than a few tenths of an oz of static weight, but that's just me. And all the folks who use HL racquets for doubles.

TripleB, I don't know if you demoed the PB9 yet but you might want to consider it in place of the two Dunlop 4D 300s. Just a little lead at 12 o'clock will bring the swingweight up where you want it and the rest of the racquet specs out within you parameters. The PB9 combines the best, and exceeds the performance of the two 300s. Very maneuverable and solid for its weight, control of a 18x20 but with an open pattern. Just a better racquet than the 300s in every category with a possible exception in the serve of the 300 16x19.

If you have already demoed the PB9 and found it not to your liking, you probably wont like the 300s much either as they share many characteristics.

Thanks for your input...I've checked it out numerous times and the specs look spot on. The only thing that concerns me is the score it received from T-W on groundstrokes and stability. I'm not much on adding lead tape so I typically look for a racquets that's stable in stock form. I haven't found many racquets with a swingweight under 315 that I've really enjoyed

Again, thanks for the post.

Try below the radar.....

I know in the past you have tried the Gamma T7 and the 330X .... well I just obtained a 340X and find it to be Gamma's 'right-on' stick.

It's a 93" head with 18x20 pattern ... the weight is 12oz (340) and balance approx 7-8 pts (315) .... swingweight is 335 ... flex was stated by Gamma as medium ...I judge the flex to be 63-66 (more than the G325 and T7, less than the 330X)....the beam is mis-stated by Gamma at 22, it is really 19-20.

This is one really nice 'old-school' stick ... if you give it a try I'd like your opinion.

You should really add Dunlop 4D 200 and Prince Rebel 95 to that list

You're welcome. I'm with you on not being big on lead.

I generally agree with T-W's review of the PB9 with the exception of their stability criticisms. I found the racquet to be solid in stock form. Why I added 5-6g of lead at 12 was to increase the swingweight to a point where I could feel the racquet head throughout the swing. It also increased power without sacrificing maneuverability or accuracy.(and it didn't hurt stability either ;))

WOW...I'm a little surprised that the BLX Six-One Tour got the most votes. In the write up of this racquet it seems like it's best for 5.0+ players.

Does it play easier than indicated by the info page and review or is everyone just wanting me to throw my arm out trying to play with this racquet :) ?
