Why cant Tour Veterans make more $

Does anyone know why tennis doesnt reward tour veterans with higher pay similar to other sports like a 1.1 or 1.2 multiplier on prize money for guys with 10+ years service. Veteran players in other sports have higher min salaries and sign big contracts for past performance. Yes it can get ridiculous for some with those contracts but tennis is largely performance based so it would most likely dodge that issue.

Is there a downside to this if it comes out of the revenue and not other players purse?

I think its good for the game if even lower ranked players can get a good living out of playing the sport. But lets face it, tennis is a game, no one really DESERVES to be paid to play a game. They deserve to get paid for the interest and money they bring into the business side of things, and tennis isn't as huge a sport as others. They can only afford to take care of so many people.

Personally, I think if you're making money playing the game, enough to eat, get equipment, travel the world and live by on, you're already living the dream. But half of the chumps out there aren't even generating an inkling of money and interest that the top guys are. You gotta get better at generating interest if you want money, and in tennis that typically means being better at the game.

That said, when you have a team sport, you use higher salaries and salary multipliers for proven veteran talents to incentivize them to remain on your team.

When you have an individual sport, you use higher salaries and better incentives for unproven talents to incentivize them to participate in your developmental process.

Tennis is currently run by schmucks.

Good point I mean the big shame is that if the big four knew they were going to be this good 10 years ago they could have started their own tour or at least threatened to. Imagine what tennis would have been without them in the last ten years. They would have all the leverage. Yes everything is hindsight and we had no idea they would be this good and more importantly this long and of course they had little incentive since they mostly had fat endorsement contracts

I not even sure they get a retirement plan or anything when they move on in life. I think they even have to buy their own health insurance too but don't know that! In the pro tour, the more you higher are in the rankings, the more you get in terms of prosperity! Top 20, you get almost everything offered in pro tour tennis!
