When you look at how good he can play, you do wonder why he couldn't win a slam outside of Oz all these years, except 2011.
What do you think is his problem?

The answer is pretty simple and he was outplayed by Nadal twice (French, Usopen) and by Murray (Wimbledon). They were the better player at each event.
1. Unlucky Netcord
2. draining 5 setter semi with Delpo
3. Mental lapse end of 3rd set after GOAT'ing for 2 sets.
With a little luck, he may have had a grand slam this year.

Djokovic was not autplayed by Nadal on FO and USO. He was the better player on both tournaments.
He's been super consistant the last 2 years but not much else. He hasn't really had any standout performances at the slams aside from Australia. He was lucky not to lose in 4 sets at the FO this year and he played crap in the Wimbledon final. He's had a habbit in recent slam finals of starting very slow and it's cost him.

1. unlucky netcord? You serious? One point doesn't win or lose you a match if you're that good. Play a tennis match to know more.
2. That's to be expected in slams. You can run into a good player in form. These things happen.
3. That's your own fault if you can't stay focussed for that long. Best of 5 matches require great mental focus in important matches.

8-6 final set , after being down 2-4 is outplayed, WoW !!
Yes he was outplayed by Nadal. Watch the 5th set if you want the facts. Nadal hit many winners from both wings in that set alone. He should serve out the match in 4 sets anyway.

1. In very close matches, just 1 or 2 points decide the winner and loser. If Nadal was the one who touched the cord, we will not be seeing this thread.
2. Murray played Janowicz and Novak played Delpo. No comparison there. I agree Murray was the clear better player. However on a normal day, you can expect Novak to beat Murray.
3. Did i say it was Nadal's fault that Novak had a lapse ? it happens. Here again, Novak beat Stan in a 5 setter while Nadal played his lapdog for 4 games.
Talk about parity..
makes sense. He's been very consistent but perhaps hasn't played that good in the biggest matches.
But he didnt win it in 4 , because Novak is not the one who folds up.
Ok. Thanks for your contribution. I guess you may have explained just why Djokovic, apart from 2011, has never won a slam outside Down Under.
Anyone who seriously thinks Djokovic was the "better player" against Nadal at RG either didn't watch the match, or is a clear Djokovic fanboy.
Nadal was blowing him off the court. 22 winners in the 5th set. Djokovic was just out of his league. He was a warrior, kept it tight even in that set, but he really had no chance to win it all with Nadal GOATing.

He devoted his whole career to not letting Nadal win another AO. He couldn't be bothered much with other minor slams imo.

yet, he was a point away from 5-2 in the final set.
This could not be further from the truth. Sorry but you are clearly wrong.
If I remember correctly, wasn't Nadal "Two points" away from serving out the match in 4th set?
Good question. Had Murray, over the past two years, racked up a bunch of points in 1000's and whatnot, but failed in most of the big moments, what would be said about him? 2011 is the only reason Djoker does not receive Murray-style criticism. If, in 2014, he continues to fail in the big moments, people may stop giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Novak has shown the consistency from 2011, that is Federer like. And that is something hard for Nadal fans to accept.
Murray has lost to Young, Bogomolov and Chardy for God's sake.

14 or 15 continuous semis till now. I will wait to hear when Nadal gets 10.
What does that bolded part mean ? Why the heck should 2011 not count ?
Nadal was adjusting his wedgie ?

People criticized Nadal all the time for not winning slams outside of RG until he finally did. And even after he won non-RG slams people still whined about him being a clay and RG specialist. While I didn't agree with the extent of the criticisms, some of it was warranted until Nadal really picked it up on other surfaces.
So why is it totally out of bounds to question Djokovic for only having ONE year in his entire career where he's won a slam that isn't his pet slam? 2011 was a phenomenal year for Djokovic, but he's been on tour for a long time now.

a year with a major is a good year.
if you do not agree then clearly you fart way to much..time to change ur diet, daddio.
Read the 2 bolded parts and see how much you are one-sided.
People stopped complaining about Nadal when he won outside of RG. That is not ok.
But Novak should win outside of AO year after year.

The more Ralph fans (and Fed haters like the OP) hate on Novak, the more I like him.
Keep on hating haterz!
Not a Fed hater, Fed fanatic. He's my 2nd most fav player after Nadal.
And what's your take on the topic?
