Why has Santiago Giraldo not had more success?

As can be seen in the videos, this guy is an absolutely brutal hitter. Tons of easy power, pretty flat ball, and outrageous returns. He is a decent mover and has a good athletic build and a decent height of 6'2". Why is he ranked #65? Why isn't he a top 20 player? His serve is not very good, but it's not worse then Nalbandian's or Nishikori's. What prevents him from breaking through?

His serve is worse than nalbandian and nishikoris.

Agree. in today's tour, Serve is everything. even weak servers like Ferrer has pretty good pop on 1st serve with Good placement and can consistently force short returns. and this is when you crush that big forehand and end the point.

If you can't do this with your 1st serve consistently, you are not going to break top 50

I'm hoping he can put together some form during clay season. He's a lot of fun to watch.

His 2nd serve is atrocious. 60-70 mph.

As President said, he loves giving freebies and more importantly he is not very tenacious on court.

I think he could be more consistent. Also his serve is weak like others have said. Another thing is ive seen him play down to lower competition a lot.
