Why no real news show on the Tennis Channel?

I was just thinking to myself today, why doesn't the Tennis Channel have its own daily show highlighting the events of the day in the world of tennis? I'm sure this idea isn't new one, but it would be fantastic to be able to get all the news from the day in one half hour or hour long show.

I would think the possibilities would be endless. They could show highlights from the ATP and WTA tour matches played that day, show news conference highlights, maybe have a junior spotlight every once in a while or highlights from important junior tournaments, show breaking news (Henin's retirement), do player profiles, have roundtable discussions on big issues (steroids, gambling), etc. You could even have a top five or ten plays of the day.

You could also have previews leading up to the majors, and nightly coverage would bring more attention to smaller tournaments that we normally don't get to watch on television.

The NFL Network and the NHL Channel both have their own news show, and I'm sure they do quite well with their fan base. I know the ATP has that weekly half hour show, but while interesting, you're condensing an entire week into 30 minutes. I'm sure there'd be a fan base for a tennis news show. It'd be a lot better than just re-running "No Strings" or "Open Access" all the time.

It sucks having to search around the internet for results and news. Even if they didn't do a news show, they could have a running ticker at the bottom of the screen with results and other news. I saw they did it with Henin's retirement today, but why not make it like ESPN and constantly keep it there?

Anybody else have any ideas for a Tennis Channel news show? I'm sure I'm only skimming the surface here.

It would be a good idea. Closet thing they have to a news show is ATP Tennis which recaps the past week in men's tennis. It would nice if the TTC had some shows like they have on ESPN, i.e. ATH, PTI, etc.

Agreed on both parts. Nick Bollettieri would probably work for free if it meant he could promote his camp with an instructional show. The Golf Channel is constantly showing instructional programming, and, let's not forget, they have Golf Central, a news show that highlights the PGA Tour.

It can't be that hard to make a news program. Just cut Murphy's Guide.
