Hi,

I have been using the Wilson Pro Staff Classic 4.2si, 95 sq.inch racket for more than 12 years now and have never had any wrist problems with it.

However during the past year or so I have tried some newer rackets
(1) Head Liquid Metal Prestige MidPlus (tried it last year)
(2) Wilson K-factor Ksix-one 90sq.inch and the 95sq.inch (last month)

After hitting with each of these rackets for about 6hrs in 2-3 days I suffered severe wrist pain and stiffness. This prevented me from hitting for about a couple of weeks. Then I would go back to my older Wilson Pro Staff Classic rackets and no pain of the wrist.

Anyone has any suggestions or ideas about why this could be happening. I think the newer frames are similar to the Wilson PS 4.2si.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Perhaps you could check the swingweight of your old racquet and compare it to the K90. The K90 has a pretty high swingweight and that might be causing you some problems.

maybe its the grip. what size grips are your prostaffs?

Exactly, make certain you have the correct grip size. I statred getting a little irritation in my elbow, and then I noticed that I was using a grip two sizes too large (in additon to the overgrip). After using a racket with the right grip size, the problem went away and I felt that playing was a little easier. So, go here and make certain: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/LC/Gripsize/Gripsize.html

grass_hopper: Nice suggestion will take a look at the aerogel.

movdqa: Good point. I did find swinging the Wilson K-factor SixOne a bit taxing on the arm. Swingweight of ProStaff is around 320gms and K-SixOne is around 336gms.

thejackal, JayxTheKoolest: The grip size on the Pro Staffs I have are 4 3/8 and 4 5/8. So with the overgrip they would become approx 4 1/2 and 4 6/8. The grips on the demo racquets I tried were 4 1/2. This fits my hand size nicely.

Just demoed the Prince O3 Hybrid 95sqin. Swingweight 300gms so was easier to swing than the Pro Staff but had much more power to my liking. Was hitting long more often and so had to resort to excessive top-spin to keep it in court. Excellent racquet for volleys though. Gonna try the Wilson nBlade and Prince O3 Tour 95 later this month. Any other recommendations.
